I’d rather get COVID than put dirty panties on my face…
I hear they have vending machines full of them in Japan.
Well, I guess some people pay good money for that. : P
Some definite weirdos out there…
Since so many people in here were talking about it, I can say that the issue with Legends was due to the duplicate listing. When distribution split we had to combine a lot of listings, delete others, etc. and as everyone knows it was sudden and unexpected. Because of the naming difference (of the vs ot) we didn’t catch that an incorrect listing went back up, people found it, and placed orders even though it wasn’t tied to the right SKU or the right inventory. We have been working with Lunar and DC to try and get as many orders as we could fulfilled still, and we even pulled as many copies as we could from our physical stores, but we still have plenty of people in limbo.
Usually if things are unshipped it’s due to shortages or damages. Every week there’s at LEAST one issue somewhere that is either very shorted, or arrives mostly damaged and that we need to get replacements for.
We all love you here TFAW, I could use an incentive variant tab on your website would clear my home screen of many TFAW quick search links and give you more of my money.
Dope that you actually spoke about it. Whatever anyone may feel I appreciate any business that speaks up and isn’t silent when asked questions. Much respect!!
I plan on having pre-order cancelled, if I can. I secured copies elsewhere and if you find copies I’d rather they go to someone else who may have missed out.
Since I have your ear, I’ll say the only reason I do not do much business with TFAW is because of the mailers used for small orders. If there was an option to upgrade to a Gemini or similar mailer (much like the option to add a bag and board) with an upper is cost I’d most likely get my pre-orders exclusively through TFAW.
Don’t have to respond here, just something to consider.
I second this lol. However, I already have a pretty hefty weekly bill from TFAW because of incentive variants.
Trust me, the mailers are a constant discussion point internally. We’re looking at options to let people opt for a cardboard mailer regardless of what’s being shipped for an extra fee (like bags and boards). I’m also pushing for a lowering of the comics required to use the cardboard mailers, but the extra weight makes it tough to get anything over 3 issues at the fastest cheap BPM rate, and makes Ground the only option. MOST of our customers would prefer the cheaper faster shipping, but I know some would prefer the sturdier shipping so having that be an opt in choice is ideal.
Based on what we get reported by customers, though, we have more damages reported for shipments in the cardboard mailers than the envelopes. I don’t know if that’s because people order more or high dollar things (which are also sent in the cardboard mailers) and expect higher quality, or if people get a slightly damaged book in the envelopes and don’t want to bother reporting.
I did an extensive study of the last 18 months of shipments, and the data we have shows a sub 0.5% rate of damages for the envelopes, and around 1% for the cardboard.
I think having incentives marked as such would put too much extra stress on our already stressed purchasing team haha.
One thing that we are going to try to do (no ETA yet) is come up with a semi set schedule at least for when they get added as that’s been increasingly asked for. Like every X of each week, between A and B pm.
That honestly doesn’t surprise me. I must say, I’ve had plenty of the rigid mailers show up in impeccable condition but then have a few show up like Hulk went to town on them. I realize it’s a cost vs risk, to keep costs low while risking damages, you still likely come out on top by the X amount of books getting damaged during transit.
I think most get the warm fuzzy feeling if there’s more cardboard, better chance. I’ve had books show up in gemini mailers with plenty of damage as well.
What I can say though is now trying to make my orders with 10+ books, you all at TFAW putting those in boxes with packing peanuts has been the best experience so far. Books have all shown up better than what I’d pick locally at my shops…
