A thread to share any clever hacks people have to storing, shipping or even transporting comics. I have a few to share.

I’ve been picking up boxes like this at BJs and Costco. They’re thick cardboard, reinforced, have side handles and a divider down the middle. Wide enough for most comics.

They typically come with extra inserts that can be removed and cut to size for shipping comic too.

4 pieces plus a standard comic is less than 11 oz. Can wrap with plastic or paper and keep final weight under 12 oz.

Different box design, same idea.

I obviously would not store long term because if the acidity, but this works for me short term until I find their rightful place in short boxes or sell them.

Heres how NOT to store your comics.

I love Jims channel, but what is he thinking (or not thinking) with the perpendicular long boxes. I mean cmon jim.

I actually commented on that threat stating I was concerned about the stability of the tower of comics behind him, lol.

He does know better. I’m sure that was a temporary situation. His comics are in his basement, and he’s had some flood warnings in recent months and has had to scramble a bit.

Those poor books 1 → 50 at the front of the box (or the bottom of the box in this example…lol)
It’s like a new way of pressing books :skull_and_crossbones: :weary: :scream:

I sure aint buying any of those 1st 50 books… lol

My little one is still in diapers so I found another use for the empty boxes of baby wipes. Costco brand if anyone wants to try them out.

No more babies for me…

I always use diaper boxes as comic boxes as well! Whenever I’m selling dollar books at a show with a little table I have my, “Dollar Bin Diaper Boxes,” and people recognize me for them!

Ran low on shipping supplies. Stopped by BJs to restock.

83 pieces of cardboard. Enough to ship 20 books!

Guys who take out the trash at my job love to see me working because I’m constantly taking the boxes for shipping supplies haha. Manager always asking me “You moving again?”

I have turned into somewhat of a cardboard snob in recent years…

“Oh yeah…that’s good cardboard…”

This summer I got a new shed for the backyard from Costco. It came in this gloriously thick cardboard box with two 9ft by 7ft cardboard panels. I was unreasonably excited about the box, it took me almost 3 hours to cut it up into proper sized chunks. Good memories…

How are you liking the shed? I’ve been eyeballing those as well as I need one to get all the lawn crap out of my garage.

The shed is excellent, I was a little cautious since it is essentially plastic boards but it is rigid and easy to put together and was pretty happy with the quality of it. Also the box it came in was excellent!

It was this one, but in grey:

I was the same way about a large screen TV from Costco earlier this year.

A required tool when in the comic shipping biz.
