There are so many Dept of Truth #1 9.8’s on eBay right now for super cheap

I posted some on the Cheap Slabs thread

Now is a good time to get them while they are cheap and while the option news on it has been quiet.

I’m a big believer in Dept. of Truth. Would love to see a show.

It’s only a matter of time and the prices are dirt cheap. I really want to get the second issue baby eating Variant.

So if you have one of these for less than $30, let me know.

I had one and sold it. Got another one and sold that one too.

I have this one with a cracked case, but you’re right, this was not the first baby meal cover.

Why are the baby meal variants a thing? Is there something I’m not seeing?

Believe that variant was like almost 100 dollar book when it first came out due to scarcity and art was something out there. I mean the last 5 years, alot of popular incentives have based on T&A design in digital art, that variant was something new and different for a popular series and it was lower print variant book. (1:25 for a INDY).

Back in the 80s & 90s there were conspiracy theories on satanists eating babies. That conspiracy is discussed in an early Dept of Truth story line, the cover is relevant to the inside of the book.

Dungeons and Dragons was somehow making the kids Satanic as well. Oh, and rock music. Lots of things seemed to inspire deviltry during the Satanic Panic as it is called.

Video Games have also been blamed.

I remember those days. My friend got me into D&D but we would only paly it when his parents weren’t home because they would freak out if they saw anything related. I would buy modules at B-Dalton books as a birthday gift but had to hide them or disguise them as something else so his folks wouldn’t confiscate them. Ah, the good old days.

And see…you turned out just fine…

Does anyone remember that made for tv movie staring Tom Hanks where he went crazy due to Dungeons and Dragons? It was called Mazes and Monsters. My parents lost their minds and threw out my D&D set I had gotten for Christmas. .
