I will look tonight. I know I may have some. Also have the Baltimore comic con program that has Ragnarok on the cover if you are interested.
Thanks Anthony. I actually think I have the BCC program.
For some unknown reason I can’t find my 2 copies of the Convention Edition. And I’ve always wanted those 2nd printings which I’ve never had
Why not slabbed? Just crack them out?
They say slabs don’t sell…//
They say raw sells better now…
i have a 2nd print somewhere in one of the boxes …
In the entire 25+ years of CGC existence and how ever long for CBCS, I have purchased less than 5 slabs. Reason: old books where I literally could not find a raw copy after searching for many years. So I caved in begrudgingly.
I slab comics constantly, but they’re not for me. Nope Nope Nope.
Thanks… if you find and have interest in selling, we can certainly chat
are we talking expensive books or reading books? I always grade my expensive books, especially after buying a book from Kelly’s Super Heroes on ebay and realizing he only sells restored books. Modern books probably don’t need grading unless they are legit rare and/or signed.
I can’t recall purchasing a book over $500. Maybe I have, but I don’t remember doing so.
I’m not sure if 500 & below constitutes expensive or reading books.
But in my 20 years of grading books that I have purchased raw (under $500); and that is alot of books both purchased and ultimately graded, I’ve had exactly 1 come back restored. And I actually knew it was restored and didn’t care (Golden Age)
That’s pretty darn good percentage for that dollar range of books.
As such I stand by my decision to almost never purchase a graded book, which I feel is inherently overpriced for the work & eye that I can already do on my own (within that dollar range).
If and only if I cannot find a book whatsoever after years of searching, will I purchase a graded book
My point is many slabbed books are actually less expensive than raws…especially graded moderns that are less than NM+…people would pay more for the raw and live in denial that its a better book than what they would have purchased in a slab.
Excellent point. That is very true lately as CGC’s rep (and much of the slab part of the hobby) is looked upon with further disdain than a few years ago.
I’m actually looking at some inexpensive silver age books mid grade in slab and considering purchasing and cracking them out to read/admire.
You’d think you could get a raw book for a better deal…but haven’t come across one yet…and these are not scarce books…
I pulled my books and all I had for issue 1 was the sub cover. Sorry.
Thank you Anthony - much appreciated for taking the time to look
