COLLEEN DORAN, GREG HILDEBRANDT AND JOE JUSKO JOIN THE PROJECT AS CAMPAIGN ENTERS SECOND WEEK OF FUNDING
ZOOP
As the campaign enters a second week of funding, with over $110,000 from over 900 contributors raised to date, weâre happy to announce that Eisner Award-winner Colleen Doran, legendary illustrator Greg Hildebrandt, and celebrated cover artist Joe Jusko have joined the project!
Colleen Doran, who will be contributing a short story called âThe Flowers of Kyivâ, says â(I am) honored to do what small part I can to aid the brave people of Ukraine and to celebrate Ukrainian heritage.â
Greg Hildebrandt, who will be contributing an illustration, adds âNeither Jean nor I ever expected to live long enough to see Russia attack any country simply out of greed. The savagery we have witnessed in these past weeks is beyond anything we can fathom. Our hearts break for the people of Ukraine. The loss of life is stunning. The monstrously evil insanity of Putinâs War is equal to the Turks attempt to exterminate the Armenians in WWI and Hitlerâs attempt to exterminate the Jews in WWII. Any project that I can lend my art to that will thwart Putin is a project I will join with all my heart, soul and mind. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this project.â
Joe Jusko, whose art will be the featured on the title page, concludes âAs a third generation Ukrainian American whose grandmother had her entire lineage erased during WWII; I am honored to contribute to this most important endeavor.â
âIâve been absolutely overwhelmed by the response to COMICS FOR UKRAINE,â said editor Scott Dunbier. âNot only because people have come together to support this project, and in doing so the people of Ukraine, but also the scores of comics creatorsâwriters, artists, colorists, letterersâwho have volunteered their skills since the campaign launched last week. And whether or not you back this campaign, please stand with the people of Ukraine in any way you can.â
Weâve also added some new items to the Rewards section, including T-Shirts and Art Prints for the Bill Sienkiewicz art that was revealed last week. Go check 'em out!
Finally, a special reveal : hereâs a black and white page from the six page American Flagg story that Howard Chaykin will be contributing to the book. The finishâwhich, by the way, has been deliveredâfeatures lettering by the legendary Ken Bruzenak, and coloring by the brilliant Yen Nitro, both of whom donated their time and extraordinary skills to this worthy cause.
Anybody know the print runs on these?
3000 minimum for 1st cover, 1000 for each additional cover
The print run? Nobody will ever know unless they show us a receipt thatâs proof of how many they ordered⊠Donât fall for the⊠âLimited to X amount!!â â thatâs just a bunch of bullshit shops/retailers use to market their exclusives to make people come down with a bad case of FOMO!
So that gist cover is a virgin variant of cover B?
Makes me even less likely to pick it up (cover B).
And even if they do say âprintedâ they lie!!! You know theyâre lying. Call theM out!
Shouldnât we be calling these âcover runsâ anyways? The print run is across all the printed books since the insides of the books are all the same right?
Stop being so technical and factual. It makes things more confusingâŠ
Itâs only confusing to people who canât convert UTC to EST/EDT
Might grab the Kirkham trade. Probably wonât grab the Gist virgin. Wonât kill myself trying to get them, though.
âŠwas thinking the same but I see there are some copies being sold that are remarked by Gist. Kinda hefty price though. Would you guys pay $160 for a remarked copy of this comic?
I love Gistâs work.
Well, I spent a monstrous amount of money on his original art so, probably.
My copy of high republic #1 (clone wars homage) (Trade) is doing extremely well from them still. I think itâs around a $500 book now, sold the virgin off for $350 shortly after it arrived way back.
It depends what size and level of detail he puts into his remarques. Any examples out there?
I did a quick search and couldnât find any.
