@Devildog There are three issues at hand:
-
The way the store handled the sale advertising a set amount of variants for sale and then not having that many available due to prior pre-sales
-
The legitimacy of the variant being produced without Marvel approval and just stapling an acetate cover to an existing variant
-
CGC grading a book that is altered/defaced and saying they stand behind the grade
People are pissed about the book, some for different reasons, some for all of the reasons. All I know is the PR coming out of C2E2 hasnât been great for many people

It opens CGC to all kinds of problems. Book has extra staples extra holes throughout entire book not noted or reflected in grade but I have a couple slabs that say extra staple I now want Cgc to change my labels if they are not counting extra staples. Why canât I just slap a acetate cover with Throg on my CGC 2.5 Journey Into Mystery #83 and bump the grade up to a 9.8?

Really, anything can have an acetate cover slapped on it and get a 9.8
Can you imagine if other places start doing this as well to sell all the unwanted stock. I donât think my email can handle Unknown comics rereleasing all their dead stock.

HmmmmâŠI do have a coverless Hulk one that could use a nice 9.8 cover. Think it is time to go to staples get some acetate print the Hulk #1 cover on if with fancy bright colors and submit away!

If you staple a new cover to a comic it should have a green CGC label if anything, right? Itâs a bootleg of a variant or something? This is such a messâŠ

its a married cover, should be green label and not get higher than like a 6.0 grade because of new staple holes
