Every single report says Skeff bought the 125 with Nerdy Girl, but whatever, who needs to be accurate when attacking people nowadays anyway. Facts are optional.

Here’s the thing about all of this though, and it seems like so many folks that aren’t on Whatnot, or don’t really get into any of this stuff just can’t seem to understand.

There is an attempt at creating some find of false narrative that these folks are just “good ole, friendly, comic fam community members” who were helping out their friends/family/other collectors.

Anyone who pays attention knows exactly what the current game is. It really started back in the spring and absolutely intensified with Megacon in Orlando.

It’s a concerted, calculated, planned, and clearly communicated effort by these folks (and it is largely the big Whatnot sellers). Early access to these cons, access during set up, VIP treatment, connections with artists/booths/exclusives. Multiple folks working in conjunction. These comics are in hand and ready to roll out via multiple, immediate, on site streaming sales before the events even get to moving and shaking. These folks get these books and distribute them to each other. Now, whether they charge each other, or just have an arrangement of “you get these exclusives, and I’ll get these, etc”
who knows. They are taking care of each other and supplying sauce for the goose.

Books are secured, hype is generated, sales are timed and ongoing in a way to create more buzz and also report out on “crazy sales” which are then used to generate more furor and higher prices.

Heck, they can even add in a little of false rumor, false news, false hype via anyone of their members and channels. “We Live” option anyone to go along with a new exclusive? Remember that one? Quite frankly, they have had it down to a science
textbook marketing. They just got a bit too greedy, a bit too arrogant, and they decided to take a big ole crap right where they eat. Flew too close to the sun and this is the result.

If this little operation had gone as planned
every single one of the regular Whatnot sellers would have been streaming and selling these. No question whatsoever.

It took about a half hour for the the news to get out that selling these was going to be a real bad thing. They just weren’t quick enough to hit the radio silence button and in their zeal a couple sellers started the hype train/selling.

Obviously, I know most of you on here understand this. It’s incredible to me how many folks can’t see the forest through the trees on this situation though.

I thought about doing that
but
.

I loath the virgin variant
kills trade dress spec.

That’s one of the reasons I like the ASM 797 Mayhew
it was and has stayed trade dress only. So far haven’t see the other 2200 or so copies appear (I think it was “limited” to 800 as well).

But knowing his tactics now where he releases virgin variants later, keeping my distance going forward.

Not buying into these armorer store exclusives
holding out Marvel will come through with a regular priced cover. Can’t believe a Sprouse or JTC variant hasn’t featured her yet. We get every other random character

How many graded 10.0 and 9.9?.. ZERO :thinking:

https://gocollect.com/comic/stray-dogs-1-acetate-edition

But Black Flag sends 10 copies and gets high grades while CGC using Stray Dogs as an example but no 10.0 or 9.9s for them
 Image uses cheap plastic acetate covers? :man_shrugging:

Black flag got lucky eh to get those grades? :rofl:

Great info by Thoro :+1:

I made a post discussing how much of a mess this is. I got some info from a friend who attended the show and wanted to not be named but gave me some scuttlebutt, as I mention in the 3rd point.

All three “acetate revision” variants were:

  • graded on the same day 7/27/22;
  • received 1 10.0, 3 9.9s, and a few 9.8s;
  • were submitted in a 30-book submission where the cap is 25.

That middle point is the REAL kicker. Think about it. Three different variants, all submitted at the same time on the same time, in a group of 30 books. Each variant group received exactly 1 10.0 and 3 9.9s.

This summary almost makes me want to read the whole thread. Particularly this bullet:

  • Vanilla Ice, cowbell, Grover Cleveland, Ding Dongs, invisible books, lots of people eating popcorn, hulk vs wolverine in some 1950’s neighborhood, 9.9 Bibles, 11.0 dictionary’s, squirrels smoking crack, lots of tires hitting people and removing the tire that actually seriously hurt someone
