We all hate store variants but

I often wonder when my collection lost that spark in its eye.

For me the story of Basilisk was just ok. I still think it turns into an ongoing series because of the pace of the first issue.

That happens often with Boom. Mini turns into ongoing.

BOOM seems to start every new series as a “mini-series” and then convert when they see better sales numbers. I think at this point it’s a marketing tactic of setting expectations.

Taking a page out of Marvel Comics 1984 transformers run! 4 issue limited series turned into 80 issues.

More series should start this way…but I’m sure writers and artists want guaranteed work when it’s DC and Marvel.

Remember that, “Alpha Flight,” comic that launched as a mini-series, was turned into an ongoing, then got canceled shortly after becoming an ongoing? That sucked.

i first heard of the artist Shintaro Yago about 10 years ago through the music of Kendrick Lamar and the producer Flying Lotus. He is a Guru Manga artist from the late 80’s and on. I really dig his style and always like when manga artists bridge the gap to more “mainstream” American titles. Here are some recent covers I snagged a couple of just because i think they may have longtime value ie they are awesome, as of this post some are already sold out

big fan of Gonzales, he’s def a sleeper hit.

couldnt resist this We Live #1 4th print store variant done by Stan Yak and Hive Comics, wish I had gotten the set, but Im cool with only having the color edition.

and i also noticed for Peach Momoko fans that Hive still has these for $20 a set (trade and virgin)_ pretty good deal imo.

Spider-man - One of the worst covers of last year. Neckrophilia.

No store info but Ken Lashley posted this on his IG as a cover for issue 6. Star Wars High Republic

The pencils and ink are nice enough, but the colors on that take the cover off the chain!

I’ve been a big fan of Rian’s for a while now. We’ve been waiting for the right comic to have her do the art and I’m glad it ended up being something with X-23.
