mostly. Spider-Man got hit cut he’s adjacent to 1. Waiting for a Luke Cage sneaker cover.
I like almost any movie with Snipes or Harrelson.
These sneaker covers are so lame even at an artistic standpoint. Sorry not sorry.
A lot of these Marvel and DC ones coming are ones that were also supposed to originally be spread more apart but then everything going down, delays, reschedules, resolicits, etc. shift everything. Poor warehouse on weeks like this where multiple exlcusives are showing up at once along with regular shipments…
I hated the Venom #4 (Yardin Classic Homage Variant) when I thought it was a store exclusive. But to find out it is a $2.79 regular cover I ordered a couple.
Wait for it to have ratios of silver and gold variants
I am imagining at least one store will pull a Virgin variant or a recolored. But I still like this for a regular cover.
Won’t be a shortage of Abyss covers for Batman #118, but here’s a new one from fan favorite Barends via Frankie’s.
DC really kills the spec or natural growth/appeal of these characters.
I’m officially bored of Batman 118.
Yes, they really do. Miracle Molly could turn into the next Harley Quinn on screen in 5 years and there would still be thousands of copies of Batman 108 on shelves. When everyone knows about the “spec” to the degree that every store exclusive features the new character, there just cannot be any valuable spec on these issues. There isn’t even an Abyss cameo to fall back on like Molly in 106.
I want that Barends cover, but this print run is going to be crazy. 1st appearance, awesome homage cover that will be open ordered like crazy, and a 1:250 incentive which basically makes it a no brainer to do a store exclusive so there will be tons.
Remember, if you really like and want that 1:250 Gold Foil, which admittedly is super dope, just wait. Every store that does an exclusive with a 3000 print run gets 12 of these books just for their exclusives. This isn’t signed by Todd McFarlane. The market will come down. These will be plentiful.
Exactly. That’s my only complaint… as a Batman reader and comic head from the 80s I kinda miss the turn the page and see a new character and go “who the he’ll is that” while reading. It’s 2months before release and we get new character info.
Because they want to print as many as possible, DC knows exactly what they’re doing and who they’re targeting to boost their own sales. They’re no longer targeting readers with indirect solicitations, purely marketing to the spec and collector crowds. And they’re winning… because retailers and consumers can’t help themselves.
Because we demanded it.
Oh wait, that’s the other guy…
I don’t mind all the new first appearances. Cheap new spec to hang onto in case any take off. It does get old after awhile though.
I don’t mind first appearances but most of the time when it’s pushed hard by the publisher instead of allowing organic interest and demand from the readers/consumers, it usually falls flat. Look at Lobo’s daughter Crush… Geez, they pushed hard with marketing games for that one and look what happened…
Bingo, I agree. It is funny though I have found many high ratio DC books very cheap in the past. I think there is also something to be said that DC High Ratio variants do not hold as much long term value as Marvel ones (and not all Marvel ones at that)
