Absolutely Devesting news regardless of who this happens to but right now especially so for Hockey fans. Jhonny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew were struck and killed by a drunk driver early this morning or late last night. They were both due to be groomsmen at their sister’s wedding later today. Absolutely honorific. This shouldn’t happen to anybody. RIP Johnny Hockey and RIP to your brother as well. God speed.

I heard about this and am PISSED that in 2024 someone would drive drunk with so many options to prevent that from happening. My heart goes out to the family on what was supposed to be a day of joy now turned into sorrow.
I hear you. I don’t get it. I don’t understand how selfish and careless some people are. I’ll never get it.
I am no fan of Boston College hockey, but they were solid players. Terrible and senseless for sure.
Waiting for the first headline where someone has charges dropped or is acquitted from DUI because they the car was driving, and they just sat in the driver seat.
What’s even more sad is the amount of people who still play on their phones while driving… I do believe there are more people killed from “distracted drivers” who aren’t drinking and driving now last report I saw and read yet people still think Facebook and playing on their phones is more important than paying attention to the road while driving!
Anyways, sad news… I usually skip this negative topic and don’t partake but when deaths happen that could be prevented, that’s a huge concern of mine since I still drive on the roads and don’t want to die because people choose to drive drunk or play on their phones… Should be stiffer penalties for people being careless… zero tolerance. You get pulled over for drinking and driving, you get one pass before you lose your license forever… If you get caught playing on phone, I think you should get that $500 fine and your phone smashed on site so you can think about you moronic actions on the rest of your drive after getting your phone smashed on the concrete!

It would be me if I was:
a) a cop
b) caught distracted drivers playing on phones
Forget those speeding and such… it’s the people driving 10 under the speed limit looking at phones are the real danger. Some might not be aware but driving slower to play on your phone doesn’t make it any safer…
But if I do see someone playing on phone can’t stay in their lane, I call 911 to report them. 911 always thanks me too… (I use bluetooth hands free in car before anyone else says I’m fiddling with my phone while driving as well).
Dude. There was a massive 22 car accident on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge earlier this year. No one died thankfully but a guy had his arm chopped off. Long story short they arrested the person who caused the accident yesterday. Turns out the driver was drunk at 8 AM on a Saturday driving on a suspended license, suspended from a DUI two years earlier.
Here is the kicker, the woman who caused the accident was a girl I went to high school with and worked in my (day job) HR department. I noticed she hadn’t been to work for a while and now I know why.
People are crazy on the roads. I just keep my distance nowadays… I try to maintain that 5 car distance from the car in front of me if I’m going 50+, mostly highway. Tailgaters suck too… there’s a lot of people who need to ride the damn bus!
It sounds cruel but you know what would stop people from drinking and driving? If you get caught and you fail the sobriety test onsite, the cops just put a bullet in your head right then and there. I gaurantee the amount of the drunk driver stories we hear of them killing others from their stupid mistakes will be very limited if they knew they could just be killed on the spot for being stupid!
Driving is a privilege, not a right. Can’t drive drunk anymore if you’re dead! Too many people drive illegally so let’s just prevent them from continuing to be stupid!
If people got killed for driving horribly we’d lose half the US population tho.

Interesting to see the child mortality rate charts after vaccines were soon invented… almost half of us shouldn’t be here anyways.
