My point is they’re well aware that people collect their reading material and condition is very important to those collectors.

True but they don’t care about actual condition. It’s just a few dollar item where they’re making chump change from each. They only care about quantity sold to reach their profit goals.
Spending more time in “caring” = less profit for them.
Adding “collector issue” is just a way to boost sales…otherwise they don’t care.
