Same…Well, I did keep one of the 2nd prints because the red and black just look awesome.

Thats the reason Ive not bought any 2nd and 3rd prints. Just bland covers. If they heat up, oh well…for me to buy a cover, it has to offer something unique/original.

Yes, if there was 6 billion copies printed and then there was a variant of just 3k, then I’d say it’s probably rare… but 3k out of 50k or 80k, that’s not rare. Finding 100 of the 3k available for sale on eBay makes it “not that rare” as well… rare to me also means there’s not that many available for grabs. If there was 3k total and all 3k owners were not selling until one decided to sell theirs, I’d say that 1 now being available is now “rare”…

Okay, back on topic… now I have to use the moderator stick not only on jclu but myself as well…

In your scenario, the 3000 variant is not rare, relative to all comic books in existence.
It could be considered to be rare, when relative to the 6 billion copies of cover A.

Rare is a subjective, relative term. I digress.

That’s what I said… just in a different way. I wasn’t saying it was rare to all comics, I’m saying it’s rare in relation to the 6 billion others that were printed, just with a different cover… in this hypothetical scenario.

That’s why I explained availability as well… 6 billion, 3k are different, so they’re sorta “rare” but if all 3k were available for me to buy, then no, it’s not rare to me as it’s quite easy to obtain.

Hence the reason I brought this up originally… people throw the word “RARE” in their subjects for their auctions and there’s 200 others for sale as well… me don’t think it’s that “RARE” if I can choose between theirs and hundreds of others to buy…

I like my steaks and burgers medium rare. Otherwise I don’t care about what is rare.

We all know print run only matters if the book is in demand. TMNT 31 Laird Sketch variant 3000 print run sold for $250 on December 1st. I can’t sell my Moxi #1 3000 print run for $10 lol 100,000+ print run is mostly meaningless if it’s something like Hulk 181.

Exactly what I preach every single day… some seem to think low print runs is what makes books valuable… ultimately it’s demand, supply and availability mean nothing until there’s demand.

Supply AND demand.

Always two, there are.

Availability too… can be plenty of supply that aren’t available “for sale”…

Well, availabity is a subset of supply as it is a supply constraint.

Yes but still plays an important role in the equation.

Is a great point. I think it’s Greg Capullo who doesn’t sell his art (or any appreciable amount of it). So, the available supply is nowhere near the existing supply.

There’s a crap ton of Picasso’s out there in the world. That makes the supply of Picasso art plentiful… but not all are available for sale currently…

My LCS had a limit on both FS TT covers. But I snagged some copies of each cover so feel successful.
