Bad Idea

One person started listing 1st prints and not-first-prints for cover price with shipipng. Was a frenzy.

Where were the first prints listed?

Looks like they were on eBay. Listed by comicswarehouse. The listing said ‘Official Destination Store’. Guess they felt obligated to sell at cover?? You think they would have made a separate account? Gotta respect their honesty with the company though. They still have the ‘Not First Printing’ listed but it says out of stock.

No idea. That’s something to ask CS because I don’t know your schedule or what’s shipped or what.

Yeah, as @Mrwilson2105 said, eBay. They had first prints and not first prints for sale. The first print ones were gone absurdly fast, the not first prints took a few minutes longer to sell out.

What does everyone think of this one? Long term hold or quick flip? I am under the impression that the owner, Dinesh, has stated this company was started with the intent to turn this stuff into movies/tv shows, but the quick flip is a decent amount of money to get in short term.

There’s a CBCS 9.8 of Eniac #1 for sale for $1500. Seller is nearby CBCS HQ I think. He must have done a walk-in 1 day grade.
I give the seller credit - working and capitalizing based on his area; getting in quickly and using all available options. Bravo. There could very well be 1 pour soul who can’t control themselves when they see that magic, special, unique number 9.8 on a brand new hot book. Time to view my avatar

So it turns out the store that was banned was Jesse James comics. He put up an apology on his Facebook site and said he can’t cancel the auction because it’s less than 12 hours until it ends. He said he was donating the money from the sale to a charity. He also had to surrender the books back to Bad Idea.

Thoughts?

Bad Idea making these stores walk the plank is fun.

Dumb. If he can prove he was donating the money to charity, then that’s up to people setting the price by bidding. I think Bad Idea needs bend the rules… they say they don’t care about bootleggers but this they do care about? They remind me of some past bosses that just sort of “make up the rules as they went along”…

They should let that go if he truly was auctioning for charity. If he can show some kind of “evidence”; i.e. not just his word. Many use words to backpeddle when caught, but if he has something realistic and solid, then they should have allowed it.

There is one odd sentence in the explanation though. “Had to surrender the books back to Bad Idea”. Ummm… seriously… how can that possibly be enforced? A warrant to take the books back with an officer? If I were Jesse James… I’d give a big fat giant “NOPE… staying with me. Come and get em if you want em”

Yup, what’s he got to lose now if banned for life? I would have replied with that same thing… maybe something like… “Oh, you can have them back as I left them on the doorstep, come and get them if you want them!”

You don’t mess around with Billy The Kid and Jesse James!

I’ve ordered from Comic Warehouse a few times. One of the few eBay sellers I check for hot books. Always been happy with them.

My question is: are they returning his money for the books? Unless they specifically spelled out that those are forfeited as liquidated damages, I’d take issue with giving up both the books and cost of the order. It’s not an equitable remedy.

It wasn’t originally being auctioned for charity. After they were busted it was decided to donate to charity.

Oh, well then. Yeah, busted. But honestly, does Bad Idea state in their terms one cannot auction it off? It wasn’t the shop setting the price but the bidders and what they were willing to spend by driving up the price.

Whole thing is prolly a bullshit behind the scenes planned SNAFU.
I don’t trust any of these clowns.
Advertise the damned comic, print the damned comic, and sell them to me without games. Everything else is a goat rodeo.
I won’t pay for a Bad Idea comic from here on out.
