Hello everyone. I’ve searched the forums high and low and can’t seem to find the answer. I’m about to purchase some Mylars to protect my better comics that everyone on this forum has helped me discover.
My plan is this:
For my better books, a combination of MYLAR - Silver / Regular Size Bag (7 1/8" x 10 1/2") with Silver Age Boards (56pt - 7 1/8" x 10 1/2")
Silver / Regular Size Bag (7 1/8" x 10 1/2")
Silver Age Boards (56pt - 7 1/8" x 10 1/2")
Will the 7 1/8" inch bags with 7 1/8" board be too snug in terms of possibly causing damage to the comic? It a better recommendation to go with 7 1/8" inch bags with a slightly smaller 7" board?
Personally, I find the smaller boards give to much room in the bag; allowing waves or crinkles to form. In some cases, I find waves start to form on the comics themselves. A tighter bag and board seems to fix this.
For my not so special books; I plan a cheaper Silver / Regular Size Bags (7 1/8" x 10 1/2") with Silver Age Boards (28pt - 7 1/8" x 10 1/2").
Again, I’m following the idea of creating a more snug board and bag combo by using 7 1/8" for both. I’m hoping the 28pt board won’t be much an issue considering these books aren’t my best.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
Steve
