Since this seems like the inevitable next popular trend in our industry, I figured we could start a new ongoing thread for all things blind bags. The popularity of the Battle Beast blind bags pretty much guarantees we’ll see more and more of this.
Batman #1 seems to be doing this. But, from what I can see, the only books you can get in there are the foil versions of the other covers. Right? Kind of a bummer that they aren’t putting in actual incentive variants. There are foil versions of the incentives, but they aren’t actual incentives. Although, a foil version of the Aja would be cool.
These blind bags need to go the route of sports cards and drop a 1:1 sketch cover or 1:100 books signed by Fraction. Then you’re really gambling for the big payoff. Sales will go way up.
Each Batman Blind Bag will include one foil variant cover version of Batman #1, selected at random, and drawn by the following superstar artists:
· Jorge Jiménez
· Andy Kubert
· David Aja
· Frank Quitely
· Gabriele Dell’Otto
· J. Scott Campbell
· Jim Lee
· Julian Totino Tedesco
· Marc Silvestri
· Stanley “Artgerm” Lau (front cover only)
· Jim Lee (Alternate Foil Version) 1:500
· Jorge Jiménez (Alternate Foil Version) 1:1000
Alternate foil versions of Jim Lee’s and Jorge Jiménez’s covers will be randomly inserted as chase 1:500 and 1:1000 ratio variants, respectively.
theres not enough meat on the bone
even if there a sketch variants they are going to be one in thousands
with a what 8 -10 buck cover ? at least battle beast cave the other other ratios too
im old enough to remember dc last 2 bling bags
harleys most the books had ticks from being wrapped to tight or something
and the superman batmans no one cared by the weekend
OK, so at least there will be some low print number books in the Batman mix to chase. The open order books are $4.99. Charging $9.99 for the blind bags to get the foil variants seems awfully expensive, but that’s not new.
Ya’ll know my opinion on comic blind bags. I tried two with Battle Beast because they were the standard cover price AND I wanted one to read anyway (gave the other to a friend). I am NOT doing any Batman ones. I’m gonna buy the standard comic and that’s it.
Each “Lights Out” polybag will include one foil variant cover version of DC K.O. #1, selected at random from the following:
Javi Fernández
Jim Lee
Daniel Warren Johnson
Mike Del Mundo
Frank Cho
Jae Lee
Scott Koblish (front cover only)
Ben Oliver
Noobovich
Mark Spears
Dan Mora bracket variant
DC/AEW variant by Dan Mora
Greg Capullo
Mark Spears (1:100)
Javi Fernández (1:250)
Jim Lee (1:500)
Greg Capullo (1:1000)
Heating up the action even further, alternate foil versions of the DC K.O. covers by Mark Spears, Javi Fernández, Jim Lee, Greg Capullo will be randomly inserted into the polybags as chase 1:100, 1:250, 1:500, and 1:1000 ratio variants, respectively. These variants are not available outside of the polybags.
