It is. I also confirmed via TFAW that they were not offering the book for free to customers who purchased BRZRKR 1 & 2 - this is the book.

Sweet, glad I grabbed it from TFAW.
My problem is, are they allowed to sell them? If the rules are that people can redeem the book by buying BRZRKR #1 and #2 to get for free, thatās sort of going against the whole idea of promoting the book. This is flawed by BOOM! if theyāre allowing retailers to sell the promotion SIKTC #1 bookā¦ when the promotion claims itās āFREEāā¦
Yeah, this is bad mojo if you ask me. The promotion is to get the book for free by buying two other books. If TFAW is just selling them, then that means every other retailer can just sell them and nobody can get the book for free per the promotion rules.
Iām not chasing it myself but if I bought the requirements to get my FREE book and the shops are just selling them instead, well, you better believe BOOM is gonna have some trouble brewing from pissed off consumers who could have just not bothered buying the BRZRKR books and just bought the book outrightā¦
Everything about this is just WRONG if retailers just end up selling the FREE book. Fsck BOOM! and fsck every retailer who doesnāt do the promotion via the rules!

This is like the FCBD books that people sell. I understand the frustration and agree. But how can Tfaw keep track of purchases and who gets a free book when recently theyāve mixed up orders etc. Iād rather pay for it to secure a copy if choose to do so.
If you canāt fulfill the promotion then you just donāt do the promotion by not ordering the books. Itās a rather simple solution.

Ask yourself this. Imagine 7-11 is doing a promotion, buy 2 Slurpees, get 1 free. When you buy 2, the clerk just tells you, nah, you have to pay for the 3rd if you want it? How would you feel? You just gonna buy it despite the promotion theyāre doing?
BOOM! is doing a promotion they claim they want people to jump onboard the SIKTC title bandwagon by giving away a free copy if you buy 2 other copies of a title. When people show up at shops to only then be told, nah, you have to buy it instead, why even bother with a promotion that doesnāt even follow itās own guidelines and rules?
This is why any shop or retailer selling these SIKTC instead of doing the actual promotion tells us everything that is morally and ethically wrong in such promotion!
If youāre just willing to pay for the copy, then BOOM! should have just done an 8th printing that was open order to just pay for it.
And thatās wrong too. I understand shops who limit books so everyone has a chance but any retailer who sells FCBD books on the day of FCBD is just a effing scumbagā¦ if you donāt want to give them away as the promotion details, then donāt participate in it.
Was it even clear that shops like TFAW even know what they were ordering? None of my local shops had a clue and missed the window. Brendon sounded like he wasnāt sure initially. Hard to undo those orders at this point. I did notice that they cut the price from $7.99 to 3.99 after the fact.

Nope, not hard at all. You just cancel. Particularly since theyāre pre-orders, nobody has paid yet.

This promo was clearly rushed and mismanaged. Why on earth would you not give shops a chance to participate? It felt very reactionary. My guess is Boom has some serious financial obligations to meet with BRZRKR, and they freaked out.
If one is going to do a promotion with rules guidelines, one must make sure those participating are following such rules and guidelines as well.
BOOM! I sense has been playing this game for over a year now. Remember when they were giving retailers very little time in ordering additional printings for Once & Future? Itās them creating false demand and itās their crappy marketing tactics to get people talking about their titles and books. Theyāre playing you speculatorsā¦ and theyāre winning!
