Yeah, leave the slab companies to grading… they’re not the overall authority on the details of what’s inside. I take whatever they slap on the label description with a grain of salt. Even their grades have been clearly wrong as well.
The market only decides which books is the more desirable and or valuable book. It doesn’t decide what’s more important in the book, if it’s a first and or what is not a first appearance, whether it’s a cameo or first full. There’s really no debating. Character shows up or not, that’s an appearance if they do and not one if they don’t.
All the debating afterwards is just nerds arguing semantics or pump and dumpers arguing in favor of what book they went heavy on to sell.
Cameo vs Full first…Cameo starts with the letter “C”…Full first starts with the letter “F”. C comes before F in the alphabet. Cameo wins! There, a completely logical, factual and un- biased argument for everyone to get behind!
Nope, first true appearance is in the mind of the creator… We must chop their heads off! First true and one of a kind… it’s gonna get bloody messy with collectors seeking out the true firsts…
Hmmm, if we have to put creators in giant CGC cases what condition would Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Bob Kane be in??? Cates would probably be 9.2… Maybe a CBCS 8.5.
