I have to say my last submission (shown above) came back tightly graded. First time in years I agreed with every grade given.
Shoot them an email and they’ll take care of it. They have a return window so I’d do it ASAP. I hope other collectors see just how bad a job CGC is doing and flock to the other grading companies.
Supporters with blinders on will provide excuses that they grade thousands of books and these instances people post are outliers and are only a small percentage of the total.
I scoff at that statement.
For the last 2 years I’ve had more problems with CGC quality than I care to mention. These instances of folk’s unfortunate posts are not outliers. They are epidemic. In what world should an individual have to perform a post plastic polishing activity on almost every damn slab? I have to for one.
I swear if it weren’t for the money (and the damn good money), they’d be so far dropped off a cliff it’d make one’s head spin.
And I haven’t even begun talking about the grading consistency/misses. But I don’t care, since I sell them to some poor soul that believes in them and their product
I do, however, care about the quality issues - that’s my time I have to spend correcting something
Be mindful of the liability waiver that you will have to agree to for them to crack the slab open and redo it. Read it carefully. For those who aren’t aware, it means that they can damage your book…and even if it’s negligence on their part, there’s nothing you can do about it. So, you can, in effect, get this book back in a 9.8 slab that has all kinds of tics on it. This is some of the books everyone is seeing on the market. It wasn’t the grading, it was a re-sub and they damaged it.

I will say even though I’ve had to return multiple books multiple times to get slabs “fixed” they did turn them around quick. Like within a month.
So that is good.
This plastic fragment thing has happened to me three times now. Twice it has caused me to miss peak periods for selling a book, whilst it went back to CGC. They are typically great at accepting the error and fixing it, but the QC seems to be very limited. That fragment on that Last Ronin is not exactly hard to spot!
Had a very happy unboxing this weekend!
I got the Ice Cream Man #1 from @davidbitterbaum during one of his whatnot sales. Barely had to work on it as it was already in really nice shape. The Venom 3 3rd Print was a 9.0 I bought off eBay after checking the notes and walla!
I think that was my first Whatnot show where it sold back in October? Glad it came out so great!
Real nice for a 1.0 back cover has the coupon missing but I have cgc 2.5s missing larger chunks of the back cover, I guess because it’s a coupon on the back cover counts more than a chunk. So bring on Black Panther 2 every rumored character covered.
Yeah this displays beautifully for a 1.0! That’s a pretty harsh grade for a coupon being cut out. They shouldn’t have factored that more heavily than any other piece IMO unless they think it’s incomplete, in which case it would have received a 0.5. I have a FF 15 that has a similar sized chunk of the back cover ripped out. Not a clean cut, just wear from moisture damage probably. I thought about getting it graded since it looks nice on the front, but at the grade it’ll likely come back at, I don’t think it’s worth it. Especially if yours came back at 1.0. I’ll probably perform some foxing removal on the front cover just to make it display better and sell it raw.
So I had recently gotten a PGX 9.8 of The Fade Out #1 but it was not only horribly scratched all over with sticker residue in one corner but was actually open in one corner. So you could easily touch the book inside. So it’s being returned and luckily I won the following for $7 less.
*Tied with TFAW exclusive. Sorry. Had to.
Both are good books to have.
