I boycott all CGC unboxing videos. Anyone with me?
I want to know how he got a 4 day turn around time. Have submissions dropped that much?
Shipped on Monday, Paid for 1 day turn around, lives I. Town, received back on Friday?
Rusty (the host in the video) lives near Third Eye Comics in Maryland. He sent some modern books (random Watchmen issues) to get reholdered for his submission, no fast track. Even though itās for reholdering, they still had to re-grade it so they mustāve received it, then went straight to grading and then encapsulating and packed and shipped all in one day. This had to pass through many separate departments in a very short period of time which makes you wonderā¦
I see CGC is going to start up on site grading once again at C2E2ā¦interesting.
Havenāt they always done that?
Itās been 5 years since theyāve done it there.
They will be charging a premium too.
Interesting
They can ruin youāre books right in front of you while you wait!
With a smile on their face!
Iāve been trying so so so hard to stay quiet when a CGC destruction of books topic comes up.
I type, then I delete
Then I type, and I delete
I donāt want to contribute and get myself worked up into a CGC frenzy yet again.
And yet, it is so tempting to begin typing.
Itās like that Honeymooners episode that Alicesā Mother-In-Law is a blabbermouth.
He tries so hard to be quiet, but ultimately he blows a gasket.
I have a few more gaskets left in me that Iām trying so hard to keep in. Iām trying. I really am.
Nah man. Itās a message board. Let them fly
Itās a better label than their initial mockup, but not by much.
If PSA can launch with grading that appears to be accurate, competitive fees (if not undercutting), good cases, and no added damage to the books from their slab process, they can maybe make in-roads into the comic market. However, CBCS already does all of that (grading fees are arguable) and they still get treated like also-rans.
I do kind of like the idea of not getting into 9.9s.
I will never ever ever ever understand the hyperfocus, the prominence, the importance and the weight given to label design for any grading company. All the while mostly ignoring and/or not caring about quality of product, consistency, accuracy, service, book safety, etcā¦
I guess rhinestone ocd is far more powerful than anything else
Itās a slight improvement on the label for me but thatās not saying much because their initial iteration of the label design was so ugly it really turned me off. I like the bigger font size on the grade number and everything else made to look smaller focusing on the grade. Wish PSA put a full hologram on the left side like CGC has, would look nicer. Thereās no way of getting around the red border, thatās their branding and they will never remove it unless people totally reject it en mass and nobody sends in books to PSA for grading.
I will give it a shot but Iām sure thereās going to be some problems and hiccups with their initial launch. Iām going to let the guinea pigs test the waters and see how the prices for these slabs fetch in the market before I decide to send in books.
I actually like it, I like the clean minimal looks of it. I have never submitted a book for grading or bought even a single slab on purpose (got one in a collection that I bought for something else), I own a total of one slab. I plan on submitting a few books that I got for ultra cheap and see how it goes. Maybe Iāll post them up here first before they go in.
I love the Swaggle comment, āIt is red⦠I as a comic book collector fear change and therefore it is bad.ā
