CGC vs CBCS vs PGX vs PSA

Just one time I wish we could bump this thread with actual good news from these Mickey Mouse grading companies instead of scandals after scandals.

Yeah, when that happens this seems obviously likely. Too much conflicting interest.

I have great news about comic grading!
Yesterday i saw a CGC comic that (to my eyes) seemed appropriately graded; it wasnt bent; it had no scuffs or clouds on the plastic; and the label info was accurate!

I was sooooooo happy. I almost bought it as a momento!

Must have been an old label

My immediate thought as well. I have those too, but they’re in the sub 4x series…

When looking as slabs that’s the first thing I look for…if it starts with a ā€œ2ā€ in thinkong grade bump…if it’s a 3 I’m thinking likely accurate without case or inner well issues.

Not sure I’ve seen sub ā€œ2sā€ in a long while…

Guy in the Video says they reached back to the client and said it was a ā€œone offā€ error, and sent him the cards graded 10s…?

Not saying that’s ok…or not suspect in itself…I just can’t follow the story from this guy…he’s playing clips someone else’s video who’s talking about someone else’s post and it’s choppy and hard to follow.

I guess we’ll be hearing more about this in the coming days.

im not saying one needs to believe the resolution to this but I see this story getting shared a lot with only the incident and not the wrap up.

The submitter complained on social media and I guess he was big enough social presence that PSA looked into his grades.
At the same time the submitter accepted PSAs buy offers for his 9s
PSA was not aware he did this and had regraded his cards as 10 upon second review, hence the grades changing with the same cert number.
The buy offer was canceled and the submitter got their cards back.

Still seems sketchy. Nobody knew he accepted the buyback, and they just happened to regrade everything after the fact for shiz and giggles? Then, the second review gets the better grades when PSA stands to benefit? I mean, one is by chance, two is a coincidence, and three is a pattern. We’re one more, ā€œOopsie,ā€ away from a pattern.

I think that might actually be worse…

Basically, If you’re a big enough influencer and whine about your grades, PSA will give you better results…

Just stop using them people… it’s all effing scams… It’s not about the grading now, it’s just them making themselves $$ along with shady partners to make $$.

You realize to those we’re speaking to just see us as Grampa Simpson yelling at a cloud….

Even the YouTubers pointing this stuff out admittingly keep sending books and cards to be graded…

That tells you everything we need to know. If it doesn’t sway the ones sending them the most business when they are fully aware of the issue…why should anyone else care?

Well, if people keep sending them in, they keep screwing up, those people keep complaining… why are they continuing to use a service they are not satisfied with? To me, if you just need to stop complaining if you keep getting screwed… that’s on them.

MyComicShop screwed me over and contradicted their own policies once stated on their website. When I pointed it out, that website got updated rather fast. But they treated me horribly so I have never shopped there again. They even sent me $25 to spend there after one of their reps found out I wrote for CHU… nope, didn’t use it. They are dead to me…

If you wanna keep being abused, by all means, keep being abused but at some point, stop complaining if you keep getting abused by continuing to go back.

I suppose that is your choice not to forgive. I will say I’ve been very satisfied with their FOC services. Well packaged, shipped. Maybe one book in the last year I was disappointed in the as arrived condition.

I’m actually happy they turned around, I’ve heard good things. But nope, the way their customer service treated me was all it took to lose a customer. I can get my merch from the many numerous others out there, plenty of fish in the sea!

But what if I told you they conducted a deep dive into their customer service satisfaction data, singled out your experiences and fired all individuals associated with that negative correspondence, and made policy changes to ensure it never happens again…

Would that bring you back?

What would it take…everyone has a price…it’s what separates us from the animals…

Maybe an admission they were wrong, which they’ve never done and likely never will! But then again, plenty of shops out there to buy from. I still have plenty of choices so I’m not worried.

Comic came damaged, they claimed on their website they’d refund and or replace any book that arrives damaged during transit. I pointed this out to customer service. Since the $5 book was shipped media mail, they said elsewhere on their site they can’t be responsible for damaged books when shipping via media mail. So I pointed this out to them, you can’t claim on your website that customer satisfaction is guaranteed while also claiming you’ll take care of all books damaged during transit but then say otherwise when it happens. The next day the part saying they’ll take care of any damaged book was removed and they called me a liar. So, yeah, F them… Ya’lls welcome for me making their shipping better to protect your books you buy from them.

We could start a thread of our single (maybe 2) most despicable company/LLC that we’ve dealt with and would take an act of god to forgive the company/LLC.

As much as all might think they know mine (cough cough destroying comics), it’s not them. They at least have exceptional customer service.

My #1 I’d never deal with is Golden Apple. They are despicable.

ComicXposure will definitely be mentioned. I still can’t figure out how they are still around, and furthermore, not in jail.

Oooh. Good one. #1 on my list.

Never will I ever.

How about a thread of shops that have Shunned you?

Wonderland Comics has Shunned me, because supposedly I tried to buy 2 books online (separate transactions) and they limit one. Their site actually prevents you from adding an extra copy.

But what really happened is that the first transaction appeared to have terminated while processing…item was still in my cart and so I (and it let me complete) the transaction…it went through…I had no idea it had actually purchased it twice. But when I went to pick it up they told me my account was terminated…because I violated their rules. And I can’t re-activate it.

I tried to explain it as a glitch…but I was told to speak to the manager…will not return my emails.

This happens a lot on ComicHub…I usually reach out the the shop if I see a double order and they credit me…not this shop though. I’m banned!!!

Except that I’m not because I created another account under another email….Ha Ha!!
