CGC vs CBCS vs PGX vs PSA

Oh, this was way back in like 2016 or so… I’m sure it’s long expired.

Wouldn’t hurt to try.

Until higher ups at any grading company do jail time for scandals nothing will change.

Like all the other execs who get jail time for being corrupt as opposed to a slap on the wrist/a small fine?

Don’t get me wrong, I agree with you 100%, I just know the top folks are gonna keep cheating the system and laughing to the bank.

As is the norm for many millennia now.

CGC just announced a Christmas present nobody wants, pricing increases for the new year! Because when graded comics are getting less popular that’s a great time to raise the price.

They gotta keep that revenue line from dipping down… I think I mentioned this long ago but once they got bought by a larger corporation that has “shareholders”, we knew this type of shit was on it’s way…

I hope they (CGC) considered how many more hobbyists will drop off the face of the earth with them; or submit less books with the price increase.

Had they announced this with an improvement… even just a marketing b.s. improvement, I would understand. Without the marketing “look what you get though with the increase”, I am dubious this helps them.

I guess that whole 50 book screening for $5 ea (and then rejecting 75% hoping people would “try again”) strategy isn’t working out so well.

If you watch Bronzeville Comics he’s been getting hammered…only 14 9.8s out of 50 pre-screens last submission…

But I think CGC’s lax grading the past few years, plus Nelson’s “9.8s can have multiple spine ticks” B.S. has led to more people sending in books that’s have no business being in a 9.8 prescreen…you should be as picky with a 25 book prescreen as you are with a 50 book.

Where do you see this?

I got an email.

The price increases… $3 a book for most tiers, meh. They aren’t getting any submissions from me until/unless I hear the banana bends are 100% totally gone.

They seem to have raised their prices to what PSA equivalents are…because they know they can and People will still send books in.

But I have 100% confidence this has nothing to do with inflation or any other economic factors…and all this extra revenue is going to be re-invested into the company to improve upon quality issues identified by their client base over the last couple years…

Lowering the bulk tier minimum qty while raising prices? They’re clearly targeting dealers over individuals at this point. Well I guess they always have but I do think they cared more about individual submitters in the past than they do now. They are obviously hurting. I haven’t submitted in a while and I have no plans to do so anytime soon in this (slab) market. I’ve sold 2 slabs over the past 4 months vs plenty of raws.

Reducing the bulk tier minimum from 50 books to 25 tells me they didn’t get as many bulk submissions as they would’ve liked. They even removed the 25 minimum for prescreening. All signs point to submissions falling off a cliff.

Their objective now is to squeeze as much money out of the people that still do submissions than finding new customers.

Like I said, they’re seeing numbers drop, gotta do what they need to do to keep that revenue line on their pretty graphs from dipping too low for the shareholders!
