I’ve opened booster boxes of both and can’t confirm differences past the few errata changes. The corners on my “first print” cards are slightly different, but that could just be the card machine they used.
Whew…the First Chapter Enchanted Cards are really steamrolling.
There still isn’t a definitive answer as to whether the First Chapter will be reprinted or not…that will likely be the kicker.
Do a quick search on the Elsa Enchanted card!!! Holy smokes. Even the lesser ones are starting to really climb as well.
Many of the key cards are also holding value thus far. For me, I’m still playing and enjoying the game. I wish the new sets were spaced a bit farther apart though…I think every three months is too quick personally. Disney making the money machine go into high speed though.
Even came in 1st place a few weeks ago at a small tourney…who would have though…old grandpa Marine winning a Disney card game lol.
If by chance you see first chapter packs out in the wild I would suggest grabbing a couple at this point. The game is doing well and if they don’t reprint…they will have good value going forward imo.
2 reprints already
I just looked at the Lorcana First Chapter Illumineers Trove Box set I bought some time back for $80 I think?
I literally tossed it in an unknown area of my basement as “bad speculation”.
But as this Forum thread reminded me to check again - wowza! Nice!
Yep, and those were known about and planned…and yet people are still clamoring for First Chapter and you can’t really find them all that easily out and about. They also had to make those printing available pretty quickly since they really dropped the ball in August/Sept with the initial launch.
Yeah, everywhere around me was cleared out of First Chapter by January, I found a couple packs left at a Barnes and Noble, and I see people finding them at some Game Stops. The “buyout” of enchanteds is interesting market move though.
So I’ve got two booster packs I bought from Target in Sept 2023 of the first series. Hold ‘em or flip ‘em?
Check the date on the back to see it’s a “first print” pack. Either a May or June date, if it’s a 4 digit code = day of the year ex. 0014 is the first day Jan 1, 2024.
There’s a game store near me that just opened up that has a ton of first series boosters and starter decks…I’m assuming they’re not first prints…?
The next set will be releasing next week (17th) at gaming stores and such (not big box retailers). Some fun new cards and mechanics. I feel like the game is still doing very well.
The major tournaments circuit (Atlanta and Chicago) sold out in minutes. Not really something I would do anyway.
I did participate in local tournaments and just did “ok”. Fun experience though. Top four places in the local championship series (which were sponsored by Ravensburger) all received an enchanted Holo type Stitch card which is selling for at a minimum $600. Not too shabby. 1st and 2nd also received Stitch playmats and those sell for quite a bit also.
Cards are holding their values pretty well. As new sets come out, it creates demand for other older cards that help with various combos. In my area, the local play and weekly events are still doing well.
Anyway, I’m still having a fun time playing it/watching it. I routinely get pins and promo cards and those are easy sells on ebay (especially the pins) and it helps to fund my buying of the cards. I pulled an enchanted Pridelands card from Lion King out of a free league pack I won and flipped that for $80 immediately.
Disney collectors are pretty intense…I’ve met quite a few folks who have zero interest in the game but absolutely want every single card or item because it’s Disney and they love the art, etc.
Anyway…anyone else still collect or play?
Honestly, Into the Inklands didn’t seem to have quite the impact that I thought it might. I’m on numerous forums but didn’t see anyone post their Enchanted or Legendary cards for viewing pleasure.
I think I bought around 30-40 packs of Inklands at release and didn’t hit an Enchanted (hoping I would but knew the odds were not in my favor).
Very happy to see the tournaments are doing great because that will keep the game relevant.
Nope - but I do have to thank you from way back.
I purchased the Illumineers Trove box way back when I saw many of your posts and did my own research. I figured for $65/$70 it’d be kind of a “fun” albeit slight risk to buy and see what happens with a future flip. (I’ll take risks that my heart talks louder than my head occasionally)
Happy to say that last week I sold that Illumineers Trove box for over $320. So
@Bill
That makes me happy!!! Good on you!
I really wish I would have bought even more than I did. The downside to being a “player” is I had to open up so much just to get the cards I needed.
My next recommendation is this if you see it. Gut tells me it will be a good grab. An interesting item…sort of a co-op type card encounter.
This will be out next week & at big box a couple weeks later.
I’m a collector and have been playing a little bit on Pixelborn or Inktable, I don’t have time to play in person at my LGS league nights. I’m still trying to understand the different strategies and play styles and find one that works for me.
I’m trying to complete base playsets for all the released sets. Also looking for some empty Troves for TFC and Floodborn just to store my extras.
For Ursula’s will probably get a Trove initially then see if the booster box price drops (like Inklands did) and buy a booster box when it’s cheap.
Really big news in the world of Lorcana yesterday.
The programmer/individual who created a third party computer software/program used to play Lorcana online since launch was sent a cease and desist order from Disney and the program will be taken offline in Mid June.
While this seems like a no brainer/no surprise, this program has been the go to way of playing Lorcana since day one and honestly has been a real part of the success of the game. It wasn’t hidden/a secret, etc. It will have a significant impact on the game. If you were to watch just about any youtube videos regarding Lorcana and the playing of it, you will see that program being used/featured.
Clearly, Disney is likely working on their own program (that will cost money whereas Pixelborn was free). It’s just so typical though that they had no issue with this program running and being out there while the game was in its infancy/being used to support and grow the game.
I do hope that the programmer/person behind Pixelborn client (Pavel) will get a job or something out of all his hard work. He put so much effort into the client…it was pretty incredible.
On another note, the 4th expansion will be out at retail tomm (it’s been out at gaming stores for a couple of weeks). It’s not a bad explansion but my least favorite thus far…
For those interested, Amazon is doing a sale on Disney Lorcana Booster Packs:
Ravensburger Disney Lorcana TCG: Into the Inklands Booster Pack Display | 24-Pack Set - 32% off
Ravensburger Disney Lorcana TCG: Ursula’s Return Booster Pack | 24 Packs - 18% off
Well, the 5th expansion has now hit. The game is still going very well and sales are strong. The Championship attendance is through the roof and tickets sell out in minutes. D23 announced that Pixar properties are coming to the cards soon.
For me personally, I’ve slowed down as I simply don’t have the time & energy to keep up with it. Certainly it’s also expensive as well (with new sets hitting every 3 months) but it really is just more the effort involved.
I still love playing so I’ll see as time goes on. On the plus side, as I predicted, the stuff sells so easily that any cards I don’t play or don’t care about are instant sales. All the free promo stuff sells for good money as well.
I know that constant releases are the nature of these games but every 3 months is exhausting just from a deck building and strategy standpoint as the whole game changes so much.
I saw that Ursula box set at Target today. Is it in demand? I didn’t have time to check the price there.
Not too much. I’d pass on that one at this point. Singles or packs are likely the best bet going forward (or sealed booster boxes)
