Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game

@beachboy
You’re not being a dick at all. I honestly have very little vested interest with this. I enjoy the cards, the game and to a degree “the hunt”. I’ve always been a bit OCD about items I can hunt for. Especially toys and that has served me fairly well over the years.
Times have changed though…the rules are a bit different and things like online ordering, bots, etc.

I used to love products with a “release date” as it put everyone on even ground. You wanted first shot at product you went out and waited in line. This launch really bungled that. I should have realized the independent stockers would ignore a date.

I secured a full booster box ($188), one booster pack, and 7 starter decks (all at MSRP). I’ve donated 3 of the decks sans the booster back to my gaming shop (who honored my preorder) as a thank you. That’s really all the product I need. My OCD simply has me in a quest to find some at retail just because it’s a challenge :joy:.
I just find the logistics of this stuff fascinating. Disney fans are pretty intense. I’m not trying to be sexist but “generally” the fans of collectible card games aren’t as focused on females. This product has a massive appeal to a wide spectrum of people that usually wouldn’t be chomping at the bit to buy it.

The item I see doing well is the “Illumineer Trove”. Maybe I’m not looking effectively but those seem to be showing sales of double their retail cost. ($100-$125 range)
Sealed starters are hitting $30-$35. A Lot of folks are buying the starters just for the booster and getting rid of the starter deck cards for cheap. Folks need to be careful and attentive to those listings.
There are also a ton of “preorder” listings showing now also. I’m not a fan of those…no guarantees they get it.

Anyway… happy hunting!!! My new grandson arrived last night…my hunting time will be limited :joy:
I’ll be busy buying him “Leo” TMNT stuff!!!

I went to Walmart today to get some milk and look for these, but Walmart was out of milk so I left and just remembered about looking for these.

I’m late to the game. All I found were the boxes that once held them…filled with pokemon stuff.

anyone grab some stuff off the Ravensburger webstore ? :grinning:

they never loaded anything

because they sold out :yum:

No…I was through the que and refreshing even prior to the start… product was either available for “in store only” and then sold out even prior to 10.
I’ve yet to see anyone who got anything.
Many believe it was simply a test of their system. Who knows?

Anyone here get anything? Hell, I think they are just punking us.

I don’t know what happened. I had the screen open where you could see all the product. I stepped away from the computer and came back 2 minutes before 10 am Est and there was a blue screen with the message thanking me for being in the queue but all the product was sold out. I was going to try and get a sealed booster box. Oh well. Not in the cards, I guess (pun intended).

They never announced the release if new products for today.

Speculation is they were just testing a new store queue and hype took over.

I sold 11 boxes over the weekend but think boxes prices will go higher…

Gratz on the sale! Not being sarcastic either.
Can’t second guess turning a tidy profit.

Like I had a prayer anyway…

I’m really glad I’m not a card game/trading card collector typically. I can’t imagine trying to find stuff, constantly make trips to stores with the hope of timing a visit to directly coincide with a random visit by a 3rd party stocker.
Not to mention the fact that the entire system is clearly ripe for inside deals and manipulation.
Not saying this out of being salty either. More power to those who do this stuff for a living. It takes time & effort like all things. It’s a real behind the scenes situation.

Sort of eye opening though. Hell, I’m seeing posts of folks who managed to just bring home those entire Target displays…the whole damn thing. 72 packs on it and still in the outer shipping carton.
Some of the pictures people post of how much product they’ve gathered is incredible.

I’m going to find myself a pack of these damned cards at retail just for the point of it lol.

I’m actually interested in playing the game. I can happily wait until they print more after the FOMO and hype to buy to try and play the game.

Only very few stores and those that received got very little product.
I talked to the manager in my area and she said none of the stores in her entire district received be any and she didn’t anticipate they would.
The stores that did get it appeared to have released it yesterday as I did see multiple peoples posts from across the country about waiting in lines, showing pictures and getting a little. Those posts all were pretty consistent with people being able to buy a starter deck, gift set, and a few packs.
For the most part the first 6-7 people got stuff. At least they were restricting it so more than one could.

I’ve yet to find it at retail. I have 2 Walmarts, 2 Meijers, a Target all in fairly close proximity. I can tell by the empty stock boxes and shelf labels that they did get product, but it sold.
I never saw that floor display at Target as of yet. In knowing I missed the last round of stocking, there isn’t much point in making trips now. Will be blind luck if I come across it now.

Pretty crazy…still crazy demand for the stuff and there just isn’t anywhere to find it currently. People are saying…“wait for the restock in October”…but those same people were telling everyone “don’t worry, there will be endless supply on September 1st”.
Ravensburger simply didn’t make enough. They underestimated the Disney fan base.

Another thought/observation with this though.
Many of the people I see that want to buy this game/product are sort of atypical customers. They may be unaware of the collectible card game scene or collectibles as a whole. They simply want to buy the game because their kids want it or they like Disney.
I’ve seen tons of posts where these fans are just done with it. They aren’t going to pay scalpers prices, they aren’t going to go out of their way to get…they just don’t care and will go about their lives without it.
Just sort of a shame as putting a card game out there for fans, while still a logistics challenge I’m sure, shouldn’t result in the complete inability to buy “anything” akin to not finding something like a PS5, etc.

I think the majority of the product so far has been bought at retail initially by either flippers or hoarders/collectors. All secondary sales are to those that missed out or collectors who are betting on prices going up over time.

I saw some empty displays at Target when I was there getting some other stuff. They finally got the displays set and they were bare quite fast.
