Those Scarlet Johanson photo variants has sneaky value at cgc 9.8s, they were selling at $300 for a time. Not sure if they have that value now. Whenever I see them I pick them up, got a nice little stash of them that I’m holding on to. Helps that I have a celebrity crush on her. Love these!
How in the world are their dealers out there with these kinds of books in dollar bins at a con??? Amazing!
Gratz!!! That 1st Jeff the Land Shark has become a pricey book & as I recall has a fairly low print run. One of those sneaky, off folks radar books and still does very well!
Great stuff!!!
What if Punisher was just a book that wasn’t heavily ordered and sort of gained some popularity & interest. It was a fun read. It is a bit interesting that it has held value so well but hey, who’s complaining right?
The spider-punisher is just one of those mashups that has a lot of spec potential, I think. Flew under the radar. I have one of each cover…but the homage is pretty sweet.
Yeah, I keep an eye out for those AF15 facs…sell sell sell as you know eventually there will be another printing with a foil variant, killing this resale value like it has for the Fantastic Four facsimile.
Tales of Suspense 39 is another to keep an eye out for.
Agreed, once they reprint the facsimile the value will go down to zero.
Hit up one of my favorite annual dollar sales. 70 long boxes. All a buck per book.
Bunches of mild speccy stuff and run fillers.
I’m collecting the 80s Batman run.
Found 20 Ice Cream Man issues. Grabbed them all.
Definitely evidence that the hobby is odd. This was maybe the one I was most fired up to find.
I think I have all three printings of that
So I found my third copy of It’s Jeff in my boxes. In total 5 copies altogether (found 2 in the wild). There was no way I picked this up back then because I thought it was cute and that I only paid a dollar for it. I must’ve known that this was Jeff’s first solo series and for a dollar I thought it was a good spec. Turned out correct, I’m getting better at this game.
That’s a great haul
I got there 5 minutes after they opened. And, there were already 10 people in there with stacks and stacks of pulled books. I feel good about what I got, but I know there were some fantastic books pulled out before I got to it.
I grabbed a 9.8 candidate at NYCC out of a $3 bin. Inhave a 9.8 newsstand as well.
First foil cover, I believe? Kicked off the 90s gimmick covers.
Great read too…one of my favorite books of my youth.
I see a first Jason Todd cover in there!
Jealous as I’ve been getting back into grabbing cheap
Batman’s myself.
My turn.
I had about 10 minutes to dive through 20 long boxes…I was very rushed and hope to go back…here’s what I pulled…
TMNT Adventures 3, 7, 10, 33, 34 36-39, 42-44, 47-49, 51-60, 62-65, 67 (2 copies of 64)
TMNT Presents Mighty Mutants 2,3,5-8
TMNT Special Fall 1993
TMNT Presents April ONeil 1 & 2
(All the above are newsstands)
TMNT Mirage 32 (2nd print) 36 41 57 59 60
Spider-Punk Arms Race 1 variant
Deadly Foes of Spider-Man 7
Spider-Men 1 (2nd Print)
Deadpool BW&R 4
All for $1 each
How did I do?
I didn’t have time to look up every price, but figured at $1 I shouldn’t be able to move newsstands in lots pretty easily. There are a few keys or low print runs I shouldn’t make my money back after a few sales.
Those TMNT Adventures and Mirage books are a good find
Apparently they were putting very recent books into the bins as well…I have a feeling they may stop doing new books since all they delt with was Diamond.
Some cool covers for $1 ea.
Some Rook and Geiger books for $1ea. I never see these Ground Zero books in bins, and they are sneaky good flips. Yet there they were.
And here are the best finds of the day, possibly.
It’s Jeff is a little beat up, but I think I can still get $15.
I’ve been coming across Helen of Wyndhorn books, but never #2…until today.
Then the real surprise…how did this one per store West Coast Avengers get in the $1 bin sale? Could say that for most of the books I found. Some still had price tags of $35 on them…
Anyway…I totally killed that $1 bin sale!
Another one next weekend in a different place…owner got about 30 long boxes off books from a collection and is letting them loose…should be fun…probably will be packed.
Rook is the prettiest book on the shelves these days. The art is great. Colors just jump. Paper quality is excellent. Really well done. I’ve only read issue 1, but it’s interesting.
A local shop had a basement $1 sale today. Wasn’t expecting to find much, especially since I was arriving 4 hours after it started, but found some ok books.
I’ve had my eye out for these early Josh Middleton New Mutants books. Trying to put together the run of 1-6 for the PC. Eventually I’ll have to go after NYX 1-6…
A few polybagged books to tuck away for future speculation.
And my favorites of the day. You don’t come across these 5-Ronin Aja covers very often in LCS’s (the Psylocke issue is a pricey book). Sold my set for $200 at the pandemic peak…slowly putting it back together.
X-men 24 will likely get put up when season two of X-men 97 debuts.
