Dollar Bin Diving

And another Strange Adventures I didn’t pay a lot for. I miss those days.

I’m always in awe of the deals that find you in this hobby if you keep looking and have patience.

I have a 4x4 cube shelf thing in my office, and I rotate the books on display each week. I’m on about 30 video conference calls per week, so I change the background up frequently. Deadman now makes an appearance this week.

Hit a shop’s outdoor dollar book sale today and found a ton of new and old fun stuff. All for $1 each. I didn’t have time to be super thorough, or I would have bought 80 books instead of 40.

Just realized that Batman 609 is a newsstand. Neat.

Wow, what condition is BM609? That should not have been in there.

It’s not flawless, but it’s pretty solid. Maybe a 9.0? I’m not great at deciphering the difference between an 8.5 and a 9.4. Somewhere in there, I’d guess.

This may be a high sale, but others 9.0ish sales are pretty good too.

Hit up a shop that restocked their dollar books. Plus, the books are $1 each or as many as you can fit in (their provided) bag for $10. Can get about 25 in a bag. Got about 55 for $20. Bunch of run fillers, but a few nicer ones. 17 Sandman issues.

The War Machine book had a price tag on it. I got it off, but it stained the book lightly. Otherwise a clean copy. And, who doesn’t love the Wonder Twins!?!

A few of the finds:

Hit up a massive dollar book sale today. 75 long boxes (no bags or boards). Could have spent a TON but left with 50. Some older. Some brand new.

Hit a shop 15 minutes from my house that for some reason I never visited before. Had ALL back issues at 50 cents each. Must have been 30-40 long boxes of mostly newer stuff. Finished a ton of runs I wanted to read. Left with 60 books.

Hallows Eve first. Boom Pen and Inks. 10 Rick and Morty vol 1 books. Some fatter books like Batman one bad day, imposter, Batman / Spawn. Bunch of Miles and Gwen.

Apparently, Liefeld is not great in Portuguese either. But, in weirdly good condition and for $1. I’ll bite.

Dug through some cheap boxes and got these for less than 50 cents each. Love me some dollar (or less) boxes.

A stack of West Coast and Avengers, all newsstands.

A couple cool early 80s Batman books.

Cool to find volume 5 Moon Knight 1 and 2 in solid condition here.

Couple cool covers, including the J Scott Campbell Daredevil

Love all things Maxx, and trying to close out Rick and Morty volume 1.

Love those Moon Knight issues!

Hit a fantastic LCS sale today. I only had 90 minutes to burn, but I could have spent 4 hours at this sale. Found some nice books for $1 each.

Finding a few Haunt #1s was nice. I think the Cap. Britain #1 spec has waned, but for a dollar, it’s worth the shot.

Crazy how prices have changed. I sold a Cap Marvel 16 in 2001 for $99. Sold a few 17s, too. An Art Adams 1:25 X book seems worth a buck.

I was surprised to find the Geiger (First Redcoat) book. First Jim Lee cover (Alpha) is always worth a buck, too, IMO.

Really good dollar grabs. Especially that Art Adams Rogue 1:25. Love that cover

What kills me is how much I didn’t have time to look through. They had boxes of incentives, and all were cover price. Every back issue in the store was half off. I didn’t look at ANY of that stuff.

They brought 10s of thousands of dollar books outside (it was 80 degrees here in Minneapolis). Awesome sale, but my time was too limited.

Went to a local con yesterday and had a blast, lots of cheap $1 boxes and was able to score West Coast Avengers 7 first Jeff the Landshark for a $1. Some pickups here from the con and also from my LCS dollar sale. In total I bought almost 150 books, here’s some of the highlights. All for $1, not shown here are a stack of zdarsky Daredevil 1-17 (first series, multiple issues of each). Some more IDW joes, facsimiles and stuff like that.

Can someone remind me why the What if Peter Parker was the Punisher #1 is so expensive? It sells between $30-$40 and I don’t know why. I recall seeing it somewhere hence why I picked it up but don’t remember where.

The AF15 facsimile has sneaky value, goes for $60-$70 and I’ve sold a bunch of them. Glad to get these back for $1, ditto for New Avengers 33 Doom Incursion.

Love those Black Widow Preludes.
If Scarlet ever does a freakin’ signing, you get the pick of the litter; if so inclined.
I sure would be.
