I couldn’t help but notice that on the credits page of Ultimate Invasion there was a special thanks sent out to Donny Cates. I wonder if this is the project he said he was working on in the background?
Also, when was the last time we saw the Maker? Venom 26?? Am I missing how he ended up captured and in a secret prison?
Donny cates was supposed to set something up with the ultimate universe hence maker being sent back to that universe at the end of his venom run, but cause of personal issues and cates stepping back from writing seems like Hickman took over the project and retconned maker being sent back so he’s just been captured. Doesn’t help that cates also contradicted the ultimate universe at the end of Spider-Men 2 where the ultimate universe was fine, its just confusing overall. Also the new ultimate universe the maker is setting up is 6160,regular ultimate universe is 1610. Maker probably creating his own universe without superheroes
We should all be really thankful that one of the best comic writers out there took over for one of the worst.
I actually enjoy Cates. Thor and Hulk fell apart because of his personal issues. Venom was character defining and my only complaint is that Knull went out too easy/quick.
Death of the Inhumans was awesome, ditto Thanos Wins and Cosmic Ghost Rider. I also enjoyed his GOTG run, but I feel like the second arc was better than the first.
That said Hickman is always fantastic! I’m winning either way
I’ve dug some of Cates stuff too.
I don’t care for his endings or lack thereof but if he’s having some emotional issues and dealing with the aftermath of a car accident, even I will give him a break and wish him well. I get a stutter when I’m on lithium. That tells you a few things.

I kinda think that Donny might be getting back with Marvel as he recently retweeted the Annihilation 2099 reveal teaser. I guess we will find out soon.
