In Mexico I always get confused for being Polish, German or Hungarian… Little do they know I’m all three! I’ll never tell!
16 sales of Dr. Strange #1 (2015) on 10/16.
I am not speculating on Zelma. Im 100% sure she wont be in Doctor Strange 2.
My money is on America Chavez.
So far, it seems the plot is going to be about Mordo coming back as a villain. I’m doubting America Chavez… I can’t even recall any ties Chavez has to Doctor Strange either… besides both just being associated to the Avengers.
I agree there are no absolutes and this is all entirely spec…but
Miss America may not be directly tied to Dr. Strange with a particular comic storyline, but she is about as significant as it comes relative to talk about the “Multiverse”. Her entire history and primary ability set is tied to it. She can transport folks throughout the multiverses. The Utopian Parallel and her culture/peoples identity is tied to the multiverse.
She has had numerous encounters/storylines involving the “supernatural/dimensions” and such. Stories with Daimon Hellstrom, Wiccan, etc…so one can only assume that Dr. Strange and her would be aware of one another (or could meet up).
I had never seen the Hip Hop variant of this until now… Pretty cool!
So…here is what I feel is the possibly the biggest reason against Xochitl being Miss America Chavez.
I’m not trying to open up a can of worms here either. Just a key factor that does need to be considered.
I think America is extremely important from a LBQTQ standpoint. She is a character that can be included from the comics, into the MCU with regards to diversity, that is keeping in line with the established Marvel history. We know Disney supports inclusion and is very frank about this topic.
However, Xochitl is 14 currently, not sure how far out the film is…but…is Disney ready to portray a girl as young as her as Gay yet? I don’t know the answer to that question. I imagine behind closed Disney doors it will be a great topic of debate regardless of how America is brought to the MCU at some point in time.
They honestly will face backlash with however they deal with America one way or the other…BUT…I believe the backlash will be far more intense if it with a youngster.
Please know…I support whatever they do…I have no issues with it…but…it is absolutely a reason that she may not be America.
Of note, The topic is apparently important to Xochitl as she speaks about it frequently in interviews I read. The topic has been a part of her role on previous shows and she was vocal about it/in favor (her father on Babysitter’s club is gay in the show).
Also look at it from this standpoint, by the time they start filming, this 14 year old might be 16 or close to 17 when all said and done as well… Isn’t America Chavez suppose to be around 17/18 in the comics?
I’m not sure how old she is in comics…she is portrayed so differently at times/different artists.
I feel like she “should” be 17 or 18 but often artists make her look much older? As least to me.
It’s titled the Multiverse of Madness, anything can happen. This would be a great opportunity for them to at least cameo a ton of new characters. If it goes in the direction I think we’ll have a ton of books heating up.
I also take issue with any people not accepting of others lifestyle or how they live their lives.
I don’t think Disney cares one bit what North Americans or Europeans think…They do however care what China, India and middle eastern countries think. Disney loves global money more than their own soul. India and China combined have 2 billion people at least. Islamic majority countries equal another 1 plus billion. All of the above have different dominant cultures and are also ultra conservative.
Disney at the moment is not but I can see them bowing down to all of them if their profits are compromised. We’ll see. I really don’t like other countries, especially China giving Disney guidelines or restriction to their properties. I especially don’t like how quickly Disney caves to them. Money is power I guess.
Because of Covid but yea
That’s fine for comics but more characters = more salaries… They’re not gonna go too far with characters me thinks… Disney has all kinds of cash but the last show my wife worked on for ABC, she said Disney was breathing down their necks to cut costs as much as they can on just about everything.
True, but aren’t most companies doing the same? I know my employer is always looking for ways to make more money.
I’m just looking forward to having a fuller MCU. It’ll be interesting to see exactly how they do it.
Yes I get all my new movies from China too
Speaking of Zelma…found these two books for $1 each. One is the 1:50 the other 1:100 variant.
Avengers Endgame took in $857 million at the domestic box office.
Avengers Endgame took in over $100 million in the European Union (including England).
Avengers Endgame took in $612 million in China, and $53 million in India.
I think that Disney probably does care, a whole bunch, about their North American / European box office. North American is Disneys largest single market, as far as profits go.
I think Disney just likes money regardless of the country it comes from and will create something watered-down enough to appeal to the most people in the most countries.
