^^This as well… accept an offer then poof, they gone
What is everyone’s experience with PO Boxes? Twice now I’ve had sales that the person has asked me to send to a different address which turned out to be PO Boxes. I only send to the address on file at the time of the sale but was wondering if there is some reason to avoid sending to PO Boxes, does eBay not provide Seller Protection when sending to them?
The last sale was so suspect (asked me to send to a PO Box and had no feedback from last 12 months) that I just took the hit and sent it tracking and required a signature. So I went to look up the tracking and I see this:
Feeling like I dodged a bullet on this sale but a little upset that I paid for a signature but can’t even see it? A fee might apply to see the signature confirmation that I already paid for? Didn’t even know this was possible.
That is suspect. I don’t have a problem sending to PO boxes as long as that is the address on file. I’ve had lots of sales to buyers using boxes, a lot of times they live somewhere remote and in small towns so they have to go to their post office to pick up mail.
Always ship to the address on file, no exceptions.
PO Boxes are fine—if the on-file address. I never send to another address as all my seller protections with eBay disappear. I make eBay buyers cancel and rebuy if they want a different address.
I just let them right way that I refuse any other address due to it not being allowed under Ebay rules and they can cancel the order if they want. More often than not they are up to no good. No reason to put yourself in a losing position.
% agree with you there. Unless it’s a small order and you are willing to take the risk for a few bucks.
Have a baseball bat up on eBay we got for one weekend tournament. Guy asked if I would take x amount for it. I said sure and sent him the offer. He turns around and says never mind it is too expensive. I am like you made the offer man. People suck
Why is it so hard to be honest? Apologize and say “I’ve had a change of mind.” Everyone can understand that. But no, gotta go there and contradict yourself…
Block that dude.
I’d imagine he was being honest… despite his own offer, probably thought it was too expensive then even… and changed his mind after not expecting Anthony to accept but he wasn’t being honest with himself when he was throwing out the offer. But all too often, most people shouldn’t be online shopping anyways… living in a world of buy now, pay later and a majority of folks living paycheck to paycheck… it’s the American Dream… and it’s mostly people’s own faults!
He ended up buying it from me off Mercari. lol.
Did he know it was the same item??
Yes.
Question for you guys. When someone makes an offer on your item, does it not always show up on your order/sold page as item sold and awaiting payment? That’s how it always used to be for me but lately I’m noticing that only sometimes it shows up.
I had someone make me an offer for all 15 copies (nothing big), I accepted the offer but it doesn’t show up on my orders page as sold awaiting payment. My listing for that item is still active for other buyers. I have to go into my messages and the offer again to see that the item is pending and awaiting payment. This is odd that it’s still active for other buyers because if someone buys a copy, then it will mess up the inventory on the sale.
Anyone else get this lately, I don’t remember this happening in the past.
I can’t say that I’ve ever had an offer for multiple copies of an item, so I don’t speak to that, but when its a single, it has always shown as sold as soon as I accept an offer. I get an email that says I’ve made the sale within seconds and its removed from the inventory.
Yeah that’s how it’s always been for me. But now I’m seeing it more and more that it doesn’t always show up as sold item now. Thought maybe ebay implemented this change because of non payment from buyers. I had someone made me an offer on my Monsters 1 and didn’t pay for 5 days. Was annoyed that the inventory for that book was held up for 5 days while copies were selling like hotcakes. Worked out for me though, once I relisted it sold for double the offer.
Thought maybe this was new and ebay views the item as still active for sale until a payment is made. Only problem with that though is I see the item is still active and if someone new buys a copy and the original buyer pays for the 15 copies then there will be an inventory issue.
I complained about this awhile ago. Until the buyer pays it’s available for others to buy at the same price. Not sure how it works with multiple items. I’d hope eBay thought it through and made it so if someone else buys it they have to take the same deal.
Is this on ebay? I think its something new where you accept the offer but anyone who was watching also has the opportunity to purchase at your accepted price. Whoever pays first gets the item. As a seller Ive had instances where i accept but until they pay anyone can swoop in to buy at your original asking or your offer price. As a buyer i notice where i receive an offer, sometimes i will counter and they accept but unlike in the past its not in my basket waiting for me to checkout. Couple times someone else swooped in and bought it for the price i had countered
Sounds awesome.
Reinforces why I don’t do best offers.
In theory the buyer gets their money…but if you had “free shipping” and someone from farther away swoops in, raising the shipping costs…well, that’s not the offer you agreed to.
