eBay Headaches

It’s been a couple years or more since I had someone question a comic order.

I double bag all comics. The comic goes inside a refuskr bag, then that goes side a silver bag with silver board. Then taped.

This is so (1) the cover ink doesn’t rub off on the backing board, and (2) so one can safely remove the bagged comic from the silver bag & board as the tape would stick to the bag, not the comic, upon removal of one was not careful.

So I have no clue what this person is taking about. Even if I e bag was for , THERES A SECOND BAG.

Not to mention I secure the double bagged comic to a board with painters tape to prevent it from sliding around.

Sounds like they were not careful removing it, and now they want me to reimburse them for their carelessness.

It’s an absolute Batman that had color rub to begin with, which I stated in the listing, and called it NM-.

Feel like I should discount 50% and block them.

Out of principle I would allow him to do a return and if it wasn’t the way you sent it dispute the hell out of it.

Or offer a 10% refund. At least have him take pictures of what he received including the packaging. If he fails to do so just ignore him.

I asked for pictures to understand what could have happened. I wonder if it’s the color rub I pointed out in the listing.

I do accept returns…it’s very rare that someone asks for one. I just don’t want it to be because of someone’s carelessness when I out so much effort into bagging, reinforcement and shipping to take the USPS negligence factor out.

This was a book I bought at Midtown comics, and I do recall the bag had a small “slice” out of it and that may have resulted in the color rub, but I doubt it. I just was rushing and didn’t look closely at the book. So that was bad on my part…which is why I sold it at a discounted price than the going NM rate, by like $10!. And I added the second bag.

I think they didn’t read the description or look at the pictures.

For some reason this year I have been getting hit with a lot of dumbness on ebay. I had a similar situation where seller said book was not as described, but when you looked at the pictures, the issue they were talking about were clearly documented. I don’t even argue anymore. I offer them a discount or just tell them to return it and block them.

I would have said to give them somewhat of a partial, but the last comment they made about the feedback would count as feedback extortion in eBay’s eyes so you should give them NOTHING! When someone threatens me with bad feedback if I don’t refund/partially refund them I immediately shut down mentally in regards to wanting to make a situation right. That’s just crappy behavior on their part.

Quick update: no photos of damaged comic or packaging have been received, and I’ve heard nothing further from them.

I suspect it was gift, and upon realising they would have to destroy it to get their money back, they’ve shied away from the fraud.

Thanks for all your advice! Seems to have resolved itself. Good old request for evidence saving the day again.

I just had two cases where the buyer stated the item was not delivered however tracking shows as being delivered. ebay sided with me in both cases. however is there anything that can be done with USPS.

Nope, the buyer needs to complain to their local branch, it’s likely an issue on their end with incompetent delivery drivers or just straight up theft.

USPS may be able to GPS track where it was dropped off. I occasionally have items delivered to my house number on a neighboring street. Sometime it just takes a few days, assuming the neighbors are honest.

Damnit

You guys jinxed me

What happens in this situation? Do you just contact ebay/mecari and let them handle it? More often than not, it’s probably legit that the buyer didn’t get the item unless they have a history of this.

Do ebay just refund the buyer? It’s a nightmare trying to contact the post office, they’re just customer service people and would have no clue what happened to your package.

You should blur out the user contact info… I know I wouldn’t be too happy to discover my name, address and phone number on a public forum from something I bought that I might not want the whole world to know about.

Delivered to an apartment in a tower… someone probably grabbed it after it was delivered.

Guys profile is from eBay india, delivering to an apartment in New York…

I’ve seen this done before… they get family or friends or even small business, etc, to ship things they buy to U.S. address and then they do bulk shipment later to save money. Could be something along those lines.

Agreed.
I have seen this as well.
Particularly on the Canadian/U.S. Border there are a bunch of buyers/sellers that are in U.S. Niagara Falls

Ironically he messaged me and said he was in India so he was trying to get me to do all the leg work for him on looking in to usps for him. Also asked if I could mail another copy. Later messages me back and said usps told him it was mid-delivered and they now have the package back, it will be delivered by Saturday and said he would drop the case after he receives the book.

Have my Absolute Batman copies up on eBay and Mercari. Have been selling them for $20 a pop. Down to about 3 copies left. Guy hits me up with a $15 offer. I really have no interest in selling it for that low so I pass. Guy comes back at $16, declined, and $17, declined. Hits me up saying he hopes that $3 makes all the difference in the world. I broke down the fees and taxes and showed him exactly how it makes a difference. I hate selling some days. Between the reversal on eBay, jackass on Mercari, and now this guy…. Smh
