If it’s international I believe you’re covered. For all you know they f’d it up when they packaged it for shipment outside the US. You’d think because of all the liability they assume, they’d take detailed notes/pictures of what they repackage.
There’s also customs which is another set of handling.
Or, this is a scammer who likes to take advantage of the system.
Yes it was sent through ebay global program. I sent one package, but I just determined ebay broke the package and sent 2 packages, not sure why. So it looks like the second package is on the way.
Also didnt know every package is opened by customs and documented. I can see lots of books being damaged by this process.
I bought a 1:25 ratio of a hot comic with a great cover for the collection and the seller ships. He ships the wrong comic and knows he did (emails me before I received the comic), so, I open the package when it arrives to see that he’s correct - it’s the 1:50. I take a picture, send it to him and he tells me to open a return for the return label. Print the label, re-package (better than he did) and get it in the mail. I send an email letting him know it’s in the mail and he can send me what I ordered.
He’s going to wait until he receives the 1:50 from me, BEFORE he sends me the correct comic THAT I ALREADY PAID FOR!
To sellers (including my future self): If YOU OR I screw up shipping a copy - send the buyer the correct comic immediately without waiting for the return to arrive in your mailbox. If I was a flipper, he’s getting an automatic negative. Since I’m not, he’s getting a neutral. He wasn’t polite in his emails either which pis*es me off as well.
That’s not cool. I get why…he doesn’t want to lose both books for the price of one. Doesn’t make it a smart nice.
Bad business practice. Some people are unwilling to go the extra mile to retain repeat customers…they’d rather make you do all the leg work and spit in your face.
That being said, I shipped the wrong comic once and asked the person to ship it back (return to sender), but in the meantime sent them the correct book.
He agreed to do so, but I never did get it back. It is what it is, and it was my mistake. So you accept it and move on.
Needless to say, I now have developed many steps in my shipping process which pretty much eliminate a mistake from happening again. You’re suppose to learn from those and get better.
I thought that was normal for them to inundate buyers with similar items to get them to by something…it doesn’t matter to them who sells it….they get the money either way.
Ebay be like, “Whatcha gonna do? Sell it on Mercari?”
I understand the decision for sure and don’t fault them for doing it. I would have done the same as you and shipped the correct comic out when I realized my mistake “with the hope that” the buyer ships the other copy back. But he could have been burned before and his decision was based on that.
He received the copy back from me on Saturday and is shipping the correct one out.
What’s your secret? (If there is one). I just pulled all my items from Mercari because they never sale even at much cheaper prices than what I had them for on eBay.
No idea. I get lucky I guess. I have a pretty big following on there. I also tend to specialize in a lot of tv movie and pop culture (toys and video game) related books on there as well as more adult oriented stuff that can’t sell on eBay.
Does adult orientated comics do well on. I run into a decent amount of it at shows and flea markets, but there is not much in terms a sales numbers to look at. I always do well with Cavewoman comics, but that is about it.
I randomly picked up a first issue of Cavewoman on Sunday at a comic show. Paid $40 for it. It wasn’t in amazing shape but it was solid enough that I was able to get $130 on eBay. I was very careful not to have any pictures that were too salacious.
I see on Mercari a lot of those Kickstarter variants that are pretty saucy too from various Kickstarter campaigns that had unique covers. You do much with those @Anthony? I feel like it’s such a niche there would be a lot to learn about with it being Kickstarter and mature variants and so forth.
I have two kickstarter covers up for a book called Murder Bukkaki that I was given. I have them listed and they have done nothing so far. Lots of interest on them but no sales.
I have been selling so much stuff that has just been sitting stale on eBay this week. Plus other things I just put up. Like moving a lot of books this week. It’s been great. Let’s hope Q4 continues strong for comic sales.
