Such things scream “drama” to me…which likely is a harbinger of things to come if the buyer has unreal expectations to begin with…
I sold one of those old quackery home remedy devices on Ebay back in May. The device has these glass tubes that glow purple when powered on and is 80+ years old. I sold it as a collector item / display purpose. I tested it and it powered up fine. The guy gets it on May 30 I don’t hear a peep from him until yesterday saying that “it stopped working”. I replied and said sorry to hear how would you like me to remedy this? He replied return / refund or return and repair it. I was going to reply and just say I’ll refund his money even though he was outside the 30 day window and who knows how it was used or handled in the 40 days he had it. Then I looked and he left me negative feedback. I was like WTF I replied to you within a couple hours of you contacting me. At this point I really want to tell him to go pound sand.
That’s a Grade “AAA” A-hole.
I have no idea how much it sold for…if you advertise led it as is, why is this even up for debate?
The negative feedback seals it. Person revealed their cards before called. Let’s not reward stupid.
Saw some $5 transformer newsstands…looked like they may be 9.6 or above.
This is how they shipped them. At least they had backing (backer?) boards. But loose and no other reinforcement. The seller seems to favor more sports cards (very few comics) so I suspected minimal reinforcement, but not loose!
Shockingly they arrived without any evidence the package was bent and But I can tell they experienced a bit of a banana as they all have a light spine crease in the same location.
The two I was really eyeing may still be 9.6, maybe 9.8 if the presser worlds some magic (whenever so get around to submitting comics again - I will likely get them pressed first and see how they come out). The other two I had thrown in because I figured for $5 a few more comics might help protect them better. Upon closer inspection they weren’t close to NM, no nothing lost there.
There was plenty of room to add cardboard and I paid $8 to ship thinking that would cover up to 1lbs. Package weighs 10oz.
Seller had 4 (all positive) feedback, no comic sales. Made no guarantees for grade in the description…I knew all this going in, so much of this was me taking a risk for little cash invested. So I can’t say this person deserves negative feedback in any way. I should reply and tell them to ship comics with some cardboard, or at least acknowledge this in his descriptions.
Just mind boggling that someone selling collectibles would throw books into a package loose with nothing else.
Having been a seller on Ebay for over 25 years I don’t give out negatives. I understand mistakes get made, if a seller screws something up I’ll send a note and hope they take it as positive reinforcement. Funny story I had a guy criticize that I shipped something too well and I could have saved him .50 cents by using less protective material.
You’ve saved CGC the honor of doing this for you (if you had chosen to submit to them)
Hi y’all!
When you sell on eBay, do you use the international shipping program? Is it easy? Issues or concerns?
Do you have places you don’t ship to even with the program? Canada (no offense), Guam, Alaska, Puerto Rico, APO boxes, etc.?
Thanks!
I use GSP and am willing to ship wherever. Have had some Guam sales and some shipped to foreign military bases. Never had any problems.
Thanks Anthony! I guess it doesn’t matter yet because I’m not eligible for that program yet, I believe, until I meet specific metrics
I appreciate ya!
I like having it just because I know once it gets to eBay distribution I don’t have to worry about it any more. They could light it on fire and I wouldn’t have to worry about it.
I sold a Kevin Nash silver bar card to someone over seas and it worked out great.
What sucks is my last few sales no one has left any feedback at all.
I bought from someone with ZERO feedback. They had listed a bunch of comics and just joined eBay. I crossed my fingers because the comic was a great price and I prayed it would work out. They shipped quickly, packed it well, and checked with me when they saw it was delivered to make sure I was happy. They said they were just getting into selling online. I’m pleased and vaguely surprised it all worked out. I left them their first ever positive feedback!
