eBay Headaches

I will give you $6,

(PS I may take a little break from selling in February and start fresh in March. Getting tired of deadbeats online doing stuff like this

Unless the item is $1k or more, I don’t waste my time entertaining people for the low $ sales. I just ignore those requests. I’m not working harder to snap pics, potentially damage the book more while out of the comic sleeve and backer board, handling it, etc just to make it so that hourly rate drops more from the potential sale as most of the time they don’t even buy it anyways.

The last time I took extra pics of a book for someone who sounded serious, I did. It was like a $200 book I think at the time. I spent so much time getting more pics, uploading, sending all for them to ignore and never heard back. So nope, nope… NOPE! Not ever going to spend any more time on ā€œmaking the saleā€ for shit that’s under 1k value. I don’t need the money that bad.

One time I had a potential buyer ask for multiple pictures of the multiple copies I had for sale of a Comic so they could see which copy they liked the most then after I took all these pictures they said they were going to check if their shop had it and if it didn’t they would come back to me. I was so annoyed I blocked them.

I used to think that I got all the weird ones on eBay but clearly that is not the case after reading the posts in here

Go back to the guy and say he can have it for $5 over asking price now.

You should accept it, then cancel the sale. Reason - seller asked to cancel.

lol!!! Some people you’ve got to wonder if they have any social skills whatsoever.

ā€œHey babe…send me more photos of you…but before we go on a date, I’m going to make sure this other girl I like better than you isn’t interested in me firstā€¦ā€

I had a guy offer me a $1 for a book last week and told that was all it was worth. I just sold that book for full asking price. Oh well

With my whole ordeal above, most of the attention was around how my two copies of Geiger 80-page giant weren’t worth anywhere close to what I was asking. 9.8s were worth less than my raw options, according to them.

Well, both sold. $95 and $105.

I just sold a copy of cover A for $60.

I have another but I want to keep it for the PC….for now.

Against my better judgement I agreed to ship this item first class letter. I had it listed ground advantage and the person asked for reduced shipping.

It was last tracked about 2 hrs from the destination at a distribution center. I don’t know what this person expects.

Should have told him no. It was a $15 sale, so not a big loss (I paid nothing for them…Iosw $1.32) which is why I took the chance.

The one time I do this is 1000+ transactions and this happens….this is why I don’t trust USPS…to the point I drop everything to the post office and watch them scan each one…

(Sigh)

First Class sucks now… I sent my girlfriend a hand drawn card for anniversary as she lives 45 minutes south of me. Just thought it’d be nice for her to receive card in the mail as we were celebrating a few days after actual date with plans… took them 4 days… FOUR DAYS! Maybe next time I just goto post office, ask them to stamp it for me and I just drive down, put in mailbox myself.

On Dec 15th I pull all my listings until after Christmas. I don’t need the stress of last minute gift buying and people freaking out about shipping. The post office is a mess. Once I drop it off, it’s out of my hands.

Side note: for the first time in many many years selling on eBay, I got a message that the figures I shipped to a guy in AZ did not arrive. All that was delivered was the shipping label ripped from the top of the shipping box in one of those window envelopes from the post office with the boxes ā€œdamagedā€ and ā€œcontents missingā€ checked. For the first time ever I filed for the insurance protection. They denied it!!! I’m like ā€œI mailed a box with figures and all that arrived was the shipping label in an official envelope from the post officeā€. What the heck!!! I appealed it and won. The insurance is a crock.

Glad you won. I’m sure the initial response is to always deny by default and make you go through the hassle to appeal, then an actual person steps in to verify. I’m sure so many others just give up after the initial deny.

And yeah, the times I have stuff listed, I pull at a certain time before Xmas as well. I just don’t want to deal with it at a certain point either with all the pushy people and what I can’t control, slow shipping. Cause I’m quick, I will ship same day if it’s before 4pm my time as my post office closes at 6pm for getting it to actually ship out from the distribution center. That’s the other perk, I live only a few miles from the actual distribution center here, which is main USPS hub that all the other post offices will drop their packages off. So if I drop off at any other, it will take a day just to process through the main hub… taking to main hub, it’s gone and out of the city that night or next day, so it usually cuts a day or two off shipping time.

That’s a cute idea. Sorry the post office was slow delivering your card!

So what’s my play here?

I got a ā€œitem not received requestā€ today Nov 22

On the tracking page it says the comic was delivered on Nov 21

What are my obligations if the tracking says it’s been delivered? I’m actually very annoyed that the buyer didn’t even contact me first and opened up a case. Feels like I’m getting scammed here.

Ebay says I have to resolve it by Nov 29th, which is 7 days away. I can’t see how I would be able to fix this issue with USPS in that time frame without issuing a refund to the customer.

Contact eBay. Or in the eBay app/webpage, upload proof via photos. Did you check the tracking id to see what USPS says? I know these quickly go away when I have had issues like this in the past and show proof.

This is what it says on the USPS tracking page

I’m not too concerned about giving a refund here as it’s not too expensive, $25 will get it done. I’m more curious about the process and what my obligations are in case in the future it’s a more expensive item or a graded book. I’m not going to fight this too hard, just not worth the time. Thinking of just refunding the guy and then block him from future purchases.

I would dispute it in the fact that it was delivered. Not a hard fight and no reason to give away a book for free.
