Follow up to this story…several days ago I put a low bid on a $.99 auction and forgot about it. Turns out I won and that comic arrived the same day as the one that arrived damaged. It was in a comic mailer and packaged pretty well. Turns out it was from THE SAME GUY!

No, the auction win was sent ground advantage. The auction win and the direct purchase happened on two separate days but they worked their way through the postal system so that they arrived on the same day. I don’t think he realized I was the same buyer anyway.
How do I even leave feedback for this? One experience good, another bad. I certainly don’t want to encourage buyers to deal with this guy. If I don’t do anything he gets a good rating anyway.
Rate the negative one first. Since you can only rate once per 30 day period that counts towards their record, rate the negative first so it counts then rate the other purchase but say “see my other rating below”

Anyone else use the eBay mobile app on iPhone when listing items? I ask because I noticed I didn’t have the option to require immediate payment on a buy it now listing. I ended up having to do it through safari and the eBay site to require immediate payments.

It must’ve been removed recently because I’ve always had the option to require immediate payment when listing through the mobile app.
As well aren’t all days calendar days?! Do they mean business days?

Yes, and I can’t apply combined shipping rules through the app, either. I also like adding my item cost, which is still browser-only as well.
I have taken to starting drafts in the app and then finishing the listings on a computer.

I need to see if that’s changed on my app. I pretty much ALWAYS require immediate payment.
Now that USPS rates went up again today, I compared eBay shipping for a 12 oz. Ground Advantage package with Pirate Ship. I think the difference used to be minimal (for me), but not now:
Retail price for the zone I’m shipping to: $10.95
Commercial price that eBay is charging: $7.69
Pirate Ship price: $6.52
Yikes. I like the convenience of eBay shipping, but this is a big difference on smaller margin books.

Not sure what you mean. I charge buyers a flat fee for shipping that is inclusive of the cost of the box, etc.
I know some folks make their own packaging, can get their stuff under 8 oz., use Media Mail, etc. but I figured I wouldn’t be the only one this affected.

This is what shows up for across the country in eBay for me.
I pretty much charge a flat rate for $5.99 unless it’s over 12oz. I figure if it takes a $1 off to sell a book on the other side of the country, I’m ok with that.

I always do free shipping. I bake it into the cost. It results in some people buying multiple items from me because they like the shipping is, “Free.” Then, if they ask for a bundle discount I agree as it basically is me giving them any bonus I’d get from saving on shipping being on a single listing.

For the sellers…is it just me or does anyone else block buyers because A. pure spite lol or B. just don’t want to deal with them again? I’ve had two unnecessary refund experiences in the last month or so and both buyers were added to the block list because I just don’t have the patience for entitlement and pickiness. I sell as a hobby and for extra cash but I don’t need the $5 that badly.

Yes. I recently did it for a guy who bought a $180 book. It was listed as around NM (so between 9.2-9.8) he returned it saying it didn’t meet his collecting standards. I blocked him. Relisted the book because the price dropped. Sold it for $150 with a glowing review. First guy can pound sand.
