eBay Headaches

Patience is a long gone human trait in this recent Era. The babies want their bottle now.

Ive only had one complaint so far, I preemptively gave the buyer a heads up there was delay because USPS didn’t make my normal pickup due to snow. They then demanded that I give them overnight shipping which I refused, I had packaged it immediately even though I had 5 day handling time listed so the buy was still getting it in the right time frame but they pitched a fit.

“demanded overnight shipping”
??? LMAO

That buyer would get a refund and instablock soooo fast from me.

My only complaint was some buyer kept demanding I leave him positive feedback. They sent like 3 messages but since I stopped selling after my last big push in late December, I turned off notifications on my phone app after I saw most orders display as delivered and waited a week to make the app stop bugging me. My eBay emails get filtered into their own folder.

eBay’s feedback system failed me as I went through and left most feedback but apparently this one never showed up (along with a bunch of others).

Kind of silly though, I can only leave positive so not sure why this guys panties were all knotted up about it
 oh well

Those are the types of customers that get their food with some extra human saliva added to it

Nah, that’s when I let my dog booty scoot over the package before sending it

Was that carpet always brown?

I have been selling a lot of books on Mecari lately and very happy, not sure if I am making as many sales as on eBay but they come in fairly regular, especially when I get the books I order in on time.

Funny, usually the dog turns around and smells it after they’re done

Most dogs only do it once too
 not 7 times

If you don’t mind me asking, How much % does Mercari take?

Ten % plus a processing fee. Basically the same or around the same as eBay/PayPal fees ended up being.

Is the biggest difference for a seller on mercari that you don’t get paid until it’s delivered? Or do you need the buyer to confirm they’ve received it to get paid?

Buyer needs to confirm it within 3 days of delivery or they leave feedback on your behalf and release the money.

So
worse than eBay managed payments
timeline wise.

Absolutely!

Not really that bad. They receive it and have three days to rate you. After 72 hours you are automatically rated 5 stars and the money goes into your account. If there is no rating after 24 hours there are no returns.

From there you can withdraw the money. My understanding is eBay still holds the money anyway

Only problem I had with Mercari is a buyer was having all his mail held at the post office. I messaged them that he has his mail on hold and that my payment should not be held up. They agreed and on the 72 hour mark the money hit my account.

I also have not withdrawn any money from my account. It’s all sitting there. I will pull it out at the end of this month as I am using last months sales to fund this months purchases. My Mercari going forward will be doing the same thing.

Guess it depends on how you ship but I’m averaging about 2 days from sale til it hits my account. So Mercari is a bit slower.

If you are immediately taking your money out from ebay and spending it before the buyer’s period to file a claim has expired, you’re always playing with fire anyway. It doesn’t matter when eBay “let’s” you have the money if they can contractually claw it back after that. It’s just allocation of risk at that point.

Quick question, how does Mercari work and what do you need to set up an account? Personal info?

Thank you
