eBay Headaches

All my listings seem to have automatically updated to the new comic category, they just don’t have specific details set.

I have 3200 listings and after seeing what some of you have written in here about categories I started checking my listings and they all seem to have changed automatically to the new category.

Mine changed category automatically but stuff like publisher, title, era, issue number etc were all blank. Was that the same with yours?

I am wondering if, and I am. It the only one complaining about reduced traffic, if you haven’t updated the listings if it effects its ranking in being displayed and therefore reduce the number of views it gets. I have been a power seller and top rated seller for years. My books usually displayed pretty high. Now that they are also getting rid of that designation coupled with the changed categories (which mine were switched too) that it effects their display ranking

Most of the things in my listings are there, publisher, era and year. Mostly it seems character did not convert though which I always thought was stupid anyway since 99.9% of the time the character is in the freaking title. Like I have some DVD/Blu Rays for sale and obviously they all include the title of the movie in the title of the listing but they made me add the title in the item specifics as well lol shit like that is super annoying to me

As for views I have around 8-12 views on the dozen or so listings I added yesterday and I have no idea if that is up or down from normal. I am going to check the ebay forums for complaints about the new changes because I am sure they are there.

I had about 5 listings sell last night and they were all ones I hadn’t updated so I’m not sure now it’s affecting views. I usually only have 40-50 listings active at a time so it’s not as big a deal for me to check them all.

Oh yea the complaints are there and so are the ebay shills who come out to defend them like they are the only place to sell things. To be honest this will probably become my full time job. I recently left Geico because they closed my department in this location and forced the people in our department into a department I would never have applied to. The choice was do this job or be unemployed and I chose to be unemployed. It wasn’t JUST the department change. I have health problems after cancer that make it difficult to work in an office and they were going to force us back into the office in June. My wife also works there and she has an interview with another company today. Once she secures a new position with benefits I will apply for my tax id and a diamond account and a penguin account and just buy wholesale and sell online. I spend a few grand a month on comics so why not just spend that wholesale instead of retail prices. I will likely still sell on eBay but they will be the last place I go to for sales. There are plenty of places to sell online, plenty of online marketplaces, plenty of social media places to sell for FREE with only paypal fees or other cash apps like Venmo.

Anyway, here is a guy confirming that sales and traffic have been down this week

I have about 550 listings, and looks like they got changed to the new format…but I’m noticing some didn’t. So regardless if they all automatically changed, I still have to go back through every single one and check, otherwise they won’t be found.

At this point I just ‘feel’ like I am not getting as much traffic as normal, so time will tell on that one. I agree, there are other platforms to sell on, but ebay has integration with my store / shopify. Instagram and Facebook integration works, but I get all my sales from ebay or my store, so far zero from IG shopping.

For your reading enjoyment. Not many happy people. You can’t search for comics now or trading cards. You search for Silver Surfer #36 and have no way to filter anything out. If it has the word Silver and Surfer and the number 36 in the title you are going to see it in your search results.

Same with sports cards. They did away with most of the categories and now it is just Sports Trading Cards. Search for 1990 Topps box and you cant filter it by sport, you just get any listing with 1990 and topps and box in the title. So dumb. Ebay is freaking dumb as f**k

I did a search on tops box 1990 and you can narrow it down to different sports. My biggest headache is changing all my saved searches.

Well you can just do your searches and then narrow it down by the eras on the side just like narrowing it down by sport on the side. Seems like you would need a lot less saved searches that way

Yeah right now I’m narrowing everything down.

It’s annoying dude lol F eBay. They just do dumb shit man

I am annoyed, but I imagine the people who make their living off this stuff are really freaking out. Especially if they are expecting a certain amount of income from ebay on a daily / weekly basis. I’m just frustrated I’m not selling as much, but I’m not going to go hungry. I really feel for the people who this is their day job as ebay really hosed them.

The really sad part is, no matter how many people get mad and upset, they’ll keep going back to eBay and eBay knows this. They don’t care. They know they own the resell online market place with the most browsers and buyers. If people truly cared when companies like this pull shenanigans, they’d yank their business from such places so it actually makes companies like eBay think twice about their own actions.

Stick to your guns… if you threaten to leave, then leave and never turn back. I didn’t like them taking over payments so I quit and never looked back. I’m here with my popcorn enjoying the show in this topic now…

You switched to Mercari, correct?

Yes, been using Mercari.

It’s not just a simple thing for some people to just pull their inventory of a dozen listings and go. Like for me I have a store and you can’t get out of that until the year ends or you have to buy out the remainder of the time. I also have 3200 listings and a 20 year history of sales and feedback with a customer base built in who come back and buy repeatedly. It will take time to phase eBay out. For now any new items I will be listing simultaneously on eBay and Mercari. regardless of their problems eBay is still one of the best places to sell with the most eyes on your items. I have had $411 in payouts this week and I have $162 in pending to be paid out. $110 of that $162 is just the past 4 hours from 3 sales. So while eBay has problems I am still making plenty of money by selling here.

If you don’t mind me asking, were you able to build up the sales in mercari to what you had on ebay?
