eBay issues

Did someone mention taxes yet?

I’ve complained about the fees on shipping and fees on taxes (weird) for awhile now but nobody seems to care or understand. They do provide a discount on shipping so that offsets the fees on shipping, but the fees on taxes completely boggles my mind. So Ebay is taxing the government’s tax? Makes absolutely no sense.

Does the seller still get paid if they sell something with no returns, but the item gets refunded under the eBay Money Back Guarantee? I had an item that didn’t show up 3 weeks after the estimated delivery date, so I filed a claim and ebay refunded me. It just showed up a week later and I want to make sure the seller gets paid.

UPDATE: eBay told me to pay the seller outside of eBay.

I did notice that when you combine orders and send a refund on shipping, they do discount the fee from that. I sent a $4 refund to a buyer, but eBay charged me something like $3.78.

Not an issue per se, but I do have a question: Can one person place multiple bids for the same item? I have an item up for bid and the user tye_sparks has placed 4 bids all for $75. How is that possible?

I believe what you’re seeing is the same bidder entering a bid 4 separate times, each at least a little more than what he/she last bid. A single bidder can’t raise the price him/herself, so what the public sees is 4 separate bids at $75, but what he/she actually enters is something more than $75 each time.

They’re raising their max amount they’re willing to spend on it from what I recall is happening when you see this.

Yes. This.

Thank you all, this helps.

I literally haven’t had any issues selling in years. This week alone one guy said I sent him the wrong book, but the book he said I sent him was from another sale, when I contacted the guy who purchased the one he said I sent the other guy, he said he received it. So I don’t know.

Other guy just hit me up and said I trimmed a modern book. Wtf?? Who trims a modern book?

Sent a picture and it could be a printer error but sure as heck did not trim a modern book.

How do you determine if it’s trimmed. Measure the distance edge to edge?

Said the book was jagged at the bottom when I took pictures I noticed no jaggedness.

Uh….that’s some real amateur trimming there!

I would think you’d use one of those cutting boards for a smooth, straight cut…not children’s scissors…

Sounds like someone trying to pull the 'ol swap-a-roo with ya!

That’s what I was thinking.

Just had a guy message me on eBay asking me if I would take 1/3 of the price of a book I am selling, I said no. He responded back saying the book shows signs of foxing on the cover and is trash. I laughed because it is a modern cover and shows no signs of foxing on the cover, and it is a modern, there is no foxing. Needless to say I responded he didn’t have to buy it and blocked him.

Had a guy say this for one of my Red Hood Putri covers. I didn’t even bother answering this. It sold 2 days later. lol
“Can you sell it to me for 50 dollars? Thank you. By the way, can you ship it to me for free?”

It’s “trash” but he wants it? LOL, I hope he had the day he deserved.

It was the classic Jedi mind trick of insulting what you are selling to get it at a cheaper price.

It’s like complaining how bad a meal tasted after you eat it all and add, “Plus the portions were too small!”
