Mind you, I am in these books for $1 each. I should take the $15 shipped offer and still make money but it’s on principle.
I told him I would still do the $10 plus shipping I offered him and sent him the recently sold copies.
Not selling for $6-$8 ?
More like not seeking TO YOU for $6-$8.
Maybe that’s what he meant…the guy isn’t the best communicator.
He said before he saw the value at $6-8. I said they aren’t selling for $6-8. He conceded the point.
Does anyone here know how to do combined shipping? I get asked this a lot and I just can’t seem to figure it out, wish there was an easier process. I don’t have “require immediate payment” and I also have a setting where each additional item add $1 or $2.
I asked the buyer to put all the items in a cart and then request invoice. Buyer comes back and says there’s no option for combined shipping. I believe he’s seeing the individual shipping cost per item. How I normally fix this is just to refund the customer or ask the customer to send me offers on all the items minus shipping discount. This isn’t ideal. There’s something off with my settings and I can’t get it to work.
I have no idea, outside of an eBay store.
Sometimes buyers are able to bundle and request an invoice…other times they say they can’t. No clue why it’s temperamental.
When that happens I offer to create a special listing for them as an alternative to refunding.
I offered to do a special listing as well. You’re right, sometimes they can bundle and request invoice and sometimes they can’t. The ebay store fix is the first I’ve heard of this. I’m planning to get an ebay store this year so hopefully this problem goes away then. Thanks.
If I know what they want before they buy, I’ll do a new listing for them. Otherwise, I always have to do a shipping refund. One person bought 10 books from me, and their shipping charge was like $60. I had to refund most of that. There has to be a better way to do this.
You can setup a combined shipping rule then apply that to your listings. You can do flat rate rules or calculated shipping rules.
I have a fixed rate rule for comics I use that charges $6 for the first comic then each comic they add to their cart adds .45 cents. This ends up averaging out for me between east coast and west coast buyers.
For this to work they must add items to their Ebay cart then checkout, this also works with immediate payment.
This is exactly what I need thanks. Will play around with it. I got different items like comic lots that has different shipping costs etc. So I’ll need to tinker around it today. Cheers
I’m looking into it as well…I think it can improve sales as people will be more likely to add items to a purchase, especially if you provide a discount.
It just costs more…upfront investment…I don’t know if aid make the money back as it would mostly be for low cost inventory (e.g., Drek and dormant spec)….I question whether if the revenues would pay the cost…much less make profit.
A starter store is $5/month. The only advantage may you have a “store” and can more easily offer consolidated shipping/discounts to customers. You’re limited to 250 free listings, the same as if you don’t have a store. Hard to justify $60 for the year for that.
Personally I’m looking to move 1000+ comics (ideally) so that’s $22/mo ($264 for a year)….which means if I’m dumping drek at $2-$3, I’m making $1-$2 each. So I’d have to move 100-200 drek comics a year just to break even.
But it’s the investment in set-up that is most inhibiting. For $1-$2 a book take home, I don’t want to be spending 5-10 minutes taking pictures, uploading and filling out the listing details. I need some level of automation…I haven’t taken a deep dive into what is available yet that could expedite the process…definitely need a scanner…another $100 investment.
For taking pictures quickly get one of these or any other model
To see it in action check out this video, go to around the 6:15 mark. I will get one of these to ease the process of taking pictures.
As for bulk listings, I used to use a spreadsheet and upload 100-150 listings at a time. The process involves getting a AWS or cloudfare hosting to store your pictures and then use ebay’s cvs template to upload your bulk listings. The hosting is super cheap, I still haven’t paid for the storage yet from Amazon AWS. If you have thousands and thousands of pictures it comes out to 17 cents or something like that. There are tutorials on how to do this, I’ll see if I can find you one. You just need to change your title. If everything else is the same like shipping cost, price etc then it’s super easy. The reason you need to get some cloud hosting for your images is because you can link the address into a spreadsheet and automate the whole process without typing every single link and have the images upload automatically.
Here it is, this was the tutorial that I used to upload via cvs from a spreadsheet. I was able to upload hundreds at a time when I was doing cheap listings. It’s a 5 part video but there are other tutorials on youtube that discusses this.
I got some reading/watching to do….
Indefinitely could use a better camera/lighting setup. The room I use doesn’t have the best lighting. I lay the comic on foam board, then suspending it with one hand while angling it to get the brightest lighting, reduce glare while staying in focus……all while holding the phone in the other hand and looking at the screen….
It’s basically the same for every comic/angle but still takes a few seconds to get it right, but have to set the phone down to change position of the comic.
There is also the risk of the comic sliding off the foam board…I’ve had more than a few close calls…
Scanner and overhead camera. These are great Father’s Day ideas!
Yes, it’s really easy once you get the hang of it. I take 6 pictures and technically could upload 5 thousand listings a day or more if I wanted to using the spreadsheet. It’s up to you how you want to do it.
Just double checked it’s a 6 part video not 5…
Thanks, I’ve been thinking about doing this, manually listing is getting tedious. I was thinking I could use CLZ to create a “collection” with books I want to list and export a CSV in the format or close to what Ebay is looking for.
Not an issue for me, but last night I became a Top Rated Ebay Seller. Happy Dance!

Sold at 8:37, received cancel request at 8:38, then received this message 20 minutes later.,.
I’m so sorry. Can you cancel the cancellation? I’d like to continue buying it at the $40 price I counteroffered. I am so so sorry. How do we fix this?
Not an issue per se, just an annoyance lol
