So this arrives today. Was shipped out on 5/6. Seems like it was marked return to sender on 5/11.
Shows up as delivered in tracking, because the stuck a big green label over the tracking numbers.
Buyer never contacted me about it…has 0 feeeback…im then not transaction.

I have the “Dear friend” guy buying from me. He bought a Tim Drake book and I packaged it up and sent it this morning. Then hit me up asking to buy more comics and ship them with the other one. Told him I can’t since I already paid for shipping and mailed the one. Told him I would be happy to bundle the rest. I just want to move comics. lol.

Have sold a bunch of copies of Ben 10 #1. All hand selected. All NM. Buyer says it has a “big dent” in it. Not Nm. No pictures attached. Requested pictures.
Ask for pics of the package too… see if the damage on the package aligns where the damage on the books, if there is actual damage. Books in NM don’t just show up not in NM if the package is still minty fresh with no bends or dents (pending corner dings if the comic came loose and slid around would be an exception to that rule).

Unless you use bubble wrap instead of reinforcement inside the mailer, and someone applies a small amount of pressure on the mailer it can apply uneven and concentrated amount of pressure on the comic creating a dent. You may not even notice the package as being damaged as it will rebound. ….the comic may not as it’s more delicate.
This is more a concern with crating spine ticks…and less likely of a dent away from the edge.
Why you questioning @Anthony’s packing ability? Maybe you need to be chained up in the basement for your training…
First…my response was a reply to you. I don’t know how he packages…
Second my point was depending on the choice of packing materials books can be damaged in transit without the package showing damage…similar to how you noted an unsecured book can slide around and be damaged.
Which is my point, I’m replying to Anthony directly… not talking about how others package their comics cause I’ve seen his packaging before and it’s top notch! 
But yes, what you said applies to others who choose to package their books… poorly!
I use thick comic mailers from Matt’s. I put the comic in a different bag face down in the mailer. Use painters tape to secure the book inside the mailer at top bottom and non spine side. Fold the mailer flaps and secure with painters tape. Then secure it with tape down the seem and across. Put the mailing label on the seem to further secure it from opening. He said the damage was at the top and not the spine. I use nice and snug 2 mil. bag and boards.
I’ve been taping old boards from rebagging books to the front of the comic bag/board with painters tape to help reduce any potential front damage.
I am thinking this is a bait and switch. Book has a huge dent in the top which was not there when I mailed it. Shipping box and all were fine. But nothing I can do about it but accept the return and do a refund then file the insurance with usps.
Is it possible you could have created a thumb indent along the top edge when you inserted/re-inserted the comic into the bag and board …like when someone tries to push a comic into a tight fit bag and board putting pressure at the top edge…and ends up buckling the edge a little, causing a crease?
That’s one of the reasons I don’t like putting modern books in modern bags with a modern board…too snug a fit adds risk of damage. It’s hard to get the comic down into the bag sometimes without force. I put a modern comic in a modern bag, then put that onto a silver size bag with silver board…slips right in!
I use 2 mil silver. And no. There was no damage to the book when I mailer it. 100% sure of it.
I find adding old board adds a lot of weight and puts me over 12oz.
I tape the book to a thick piece of cardboard or foam board, cut to size, and careful not to tape along the spine.
This closes any gap inside the mailers. Squeeze as hard as you want, toss it around…punt it across the room if you want. Ain’t going to damage the book.
This year I have had a total of two returns. One because it didn’t fit “the buyers collecting standards” which sold as soon as I got the book back from the guy. And then this one.
A possibility is the buyer created the dent on accident handling the book and is just blaming you so he can get his money back. Dishonest. But not out of the realm of how people cannot accept responsibility for their errors.
Make sure you get pics, @Anthony and don’t let them do the whole, “Maybe you can just give me a partial?” scam. I’ve had people complain about an issue, then when I say to return it they hem and haw and decide to keep it.

Is the dent through front and back? like it was dropped or high energy impact, or just someone pushing too hard on the paper (slipped).
