eBay Seller/Buyer Avoid List

Andcon213

Cancelled sale 19 minutes after purchasing.

Reason, “order placed by mistake.”

Don’t you just hate it when you order books by mistake? People just need to be honest. “I changed my mind. I’m stupid. Sorry.”

Happens to me all the time…I’m such a clutz…

This is why I don’t do best offers. Deadbeats.

This one was a seller who “claimed” my books by adding them to their cart and then requested discounted shipping.

I followed up with an invoice which zeroes out shipping, and never heard from them.

Blocked.

There will always be a percentage of people out there that are quite frankly, entitled losers. Thankfully most aren’t, but when your number comes up and you get to deal with one, oh boy, those headaches are such a joy.

Ya its really annoying when this happens. Unfortunately its just part of selling online.

Never seen this before on eBay

Had a buyer make an offer on a book and I accepted. But the sale fell through because his payment was declined.

I’ve struggled with how to approach combining orders. The fact that a request for combined shipping requires the buyer to “commit” to buying the books (taking the listing down) before they get a price (much less pay) is ridiculous. It should remain open like best offers are….and when the buyer accepts the invoice they should be charged like any other single listing. I can’t believe eBay has not tackled this. They probably want free accounts to convert over to seller accounts, and hold this over their heads.

Sometimes a books value can drop while it’s downl. By the time you realize you have a deadbeat and cancel the sale you can lose a significant portion of the potential revenue, particularly for hot books prior to eBay getting flooded. Time is money. So annoying.

I prefer buyers to reach out to me and ask first. I then can say I’ll create a special discounted listing they can purchase the books. Extra work for me, less work for them, but you quickly find out who is a deadbeat without having the listing going down.

The other thing I think I’m going to do is where I have a number of books from the same run (like Transformers IDW and Nightwing) I’m going to create one listing where one can automatically get discounted shipping without having to send a request for an invoice.

Going to do this for several other books that I’ve not been able to move individually or in complete run that I’m trying to clear out. If I can’t move one on its own, or a run…maybe they’ll go in different combinations.

Bid and won a signed LP. Ebay automatically charged him.
Then I get the message “I did not purchase this”.

Yea ok buddy - the eyeball creature from Alien Earth rolled across your keyboard and made you do it

I had something similar happen to me years ago. Someone bought a Don Rosa Uncle Scrooge box set. About an hour later I got a cancellation request saying someone hacked their account as they did not purchase this.

I cancelled the order and the next day she contacted me again. Turns out it was her father who ordered it as a gift for his daughter…
Went ahead and purchased it again.

Makes me a lowball offer (about 60%), I accepted it anyways as I just wanted to move the book as it was sitting for a while. About half hour later I created the label as I was leaving the house on my way to drop it off with the rest of my packages. He sends me a message saying he wants to cancel order because he placed it by mistake. So he made me a lowball offer by mistake as well? I checked his profile and he has a 97% feedback score. I should’ve known, a complete bozo. Avoid at all costs, blocked.

I blocked as well. Thank you. I’ve been on a bad bad run of flakes and a-holes this past month. So I’m acting on every piece of flake/a-hole info I get. Sold a signed Sarah Mclachlan album, I personally just got signed for over $300. And after Ebay took the funds from his account I get “Did not purchase”. Mmmm hmmmm… right

He’s worse than Bozo btw - he’s Pennywise

The level of deadbeat buyers/bidders, loony toons, pain in asses, lying sacks of S, kooks, and other undesirables have exponentially increased since the summer months.

it’s an epidemic for me in the last month and half

I was going to say the same thing. I never had a non paying buyer for years. Now I keep getting them.

If they were actually a honest real person, 0 feedback might also be a very new user who might not even know how to finish the transaction. But yeah, 5 days is a bit much.
