Oh nice, that’s new since the last time I had to block someone.
Not eBay but Mercari. Guy hits me up for a Rossmo Ark-M offering $16.25. Then sends me a message saying he needed to cancel the bid.
The book sells.
I list another one. He hit me up with a lower offer. So being me and having no filter I have to say something
Wow. Not a very smart Reverend.
You should have Bruh’d him…that’s what cool people do.
And you have 17% battery left.
So… I had meetings all day and was on my phone. After work I went to a happy hour with my wife’s intern who turned 21 recently. They needed a dad there I gues. Very interesting dynamic being 51 hanging with 21 year olds. Anyway, lots of phone usage and no time to charge. Plus the iPhone 16 pro has a shit battery life.
So here’s a story. I’m one of the oldest in my group at 51. Most are in the 25ish range…younger than 30. All under 40.
Went to the group holiday party…it was ugly sweater themed. I decided to take it one step further and dressed up as
Cousin Eddy, green pants, black Dickey under the white sweater…even had the fur trapper hat. I was a spitting image. Complete with scruff.
I walked in and everyone is wearing basic Christmas sweaters…most were pretty nice, actually…far from “ugly.” They all looked at me as if to say “wtf is going on with him?”
None of them knew what character I was. I don’t think they realized it was a gag. I even had to explain what movie it was…
I’m throwing lines like “save the neck for me, Clark!” And only got the Gen Z stare in return.
Bottom line…my gag bombed hard. I guess no one under the age of 40 has watched it…or cares much about it if they did.
You serious, D-Rog?
Yes. I did eventually win third place (third ugliest sweater) but I feel the lack a familiarity weighed against me. Or it was pity votes…
That’s sad they didn’t know it.
I sold my last copy of the Rossmo variant on eBay. I accepted this guys $16 offer and then immediately canceled it saying sorry I had to retract my sale as it sold for full price on eBay. I know it’s petty but after having an incredibly rough day it felt good to be a bit of a prick.
You out George’d him!
Never explain the joke. Commit to the bit!
Avoid. Royal PITA. Received a near mint book (9.4-9.8). Said there is a tiny scratch near the staple that will prevent getting a 9.8. I asked him to please return the book for a refund. He wants a discount. Which means he doesn’t care about condition just wants to pay less.
So I haven’t had to do an eBay return in a very long time. They are giving them until 2/3/26 to return. WTF. Today is 1/12/26. That’s 22 days.
The return window is absurd if you’re a buyer or seller. I ordered a DVD to give someone as a gift from one seller on December 2nd. After they never shipped I requested a refund. Then, they finally shipped after that on the 22nd and it arrived well after Christmas in rough condition–not new as advertised. I requested a refund right away and have to wait forever now for them to respond.
I haven’t know you to put “numbers” in your title or description. Just NM.
So basically they paid for a NM copy…was not advertised as anything more….but because it’s not better than what was advertised they want a discount….
Easy decision on this one…

I just preemptively avoided this. Guy messages me before buying to ask some more questions about condition (which I appreciate). But then during back and forth messaging, comments about worrying about paying 9.8 prices for raw books came up. Mentioning “returning books” in two different messages was enough for me. Block. No sale. Not worth the chance. I feel relieved just dodging the bullet. If you want a slab that says 9.8 then go buy that. Don’t hassle my raws!!!
I don’t put numbers. Just nm. So this book falls squarely in the NM range. He said there were scratches. Sent a picture of the book with glare in the bag. I said send the book back.
Blocked. TY Anthony. I’ve seen this behavior/expectation (Raw NM = 9.8) increasing as of late on Ebay. No one needs the buyer finding an amoeba on the cover and complaining it’s therefore not a 9.8. ![]()
Oh man. I have been winning lately. Sold my last signed Exquisite Coroses #1 on Mercari as soon as the news came out. I ate dinner and forgot to take it down off eBay. Needless to say the copy I had on eBay sold as well. I refunded the guy and messaged him apologizing for the error.
Then I get this
