F-you usps

Need to put a sticker on his SUV

“Move your car and trash, or you become my next hobble…”

We had about 3 inches of snow today. Needless to say the roads are plowed….my street is plowed…my mailbox is clear….my driveway is shoveled…my walkway is shoveled. It’s been this way since before noon.

Typically usps doesn’t get here until 3:30pm.

This is more “we didn’t get to your address today because you’re near the end of our route, it took us too long today and we clock out at 5pm…”

Handed my packages to my postal worker Monday. It’s Wednesday and they are still not showing as scanned. Called the trashy manager at my local post office and asked what was going on. She said it could be days before I get an update. I asked how do I ensure a scan. She said come into the office. I said I have been in the office and they don’t scan them.

Her response this time is “scanning is a luxury”.

So I checked usps policy.

“To obtain a receipt” is I think the ace up our sleeves here. Most of the time when I’m shipping something it’s for work and I’ll get in trouble if I don’t get receipts. We have to have the paper trail for taxes, audits, and liability for the stuff we ship because a lot of times what we’re shipping isn’t even ours, it technically belongs to our customers. I know I’m ‘preaching to the choir’ here but that receipt is worth its weight in gold.

I guess the point I’m making is don’t press them about scanning the item, press them about getting a receipt. It just so happens they have to scan the item to give you a receipt and you can both commiserate about your ‘boss’ demanding it.

My problem with the getting the receipt is our post office is very poorly ran. One person working the counter 10 people wondering around like zombies. You wait in line forever while the clerk is flirting with women. You finally get up there and there is no guarantee that you will even get it scanned because as the post master said, it’s a luxury.

Maybe it’s worth the effort to drive to another post office where it’s easier to request that receipt so they’re scanned immediately and you have proof of drop off.

I’m with @agentpoyo, if you can go to another post office not too far away, do so. When I’ve dealt with mean post office locations I’ve purposely avoided them for the spots with nice employees.

There are two post offices around me. One is local and terrible. The other is a smaller post office but not practical to get to. And the one by my office at work is a big city post office. I try not to go there.

Time to just move…

Is there a self-service kiosk at either location? Those can be a godsend - wish more were around.

If you require a receipt, they have to scan it. It’s not a
Luxury.

Stand there in line and wait. Stare at them. Bring Print outs and show them their own requirements if they try to tell you different. Basically remove any excuse they give you.

I bring 5-10 packages at a time at my PO. If there’s no one else in line I’m out in 2 min. That’s with them struggling with the scanners and scale. I think I see 2 people working at my PO at most…only one is ever at the counter. It can be done, it’s not hard.

That’s the problem. There are never 0 people there. They move so slow there is a line from beginning to close. They also don’t always keep their hours. Will close early. It’s terrible.

Sounds like they hired a bunch of DMV rejects….

I said they were just like the DMV to the post master.

So I keep checking my packages for updates. I noticed that USPS is now claiming “regional weather delays” for why they were not updated. This is all my packages from the past two days.

Mind you it’s been sunny and close to 50 degrees.

I think my local post office is trying to cover their asses.

I literally just looked this a.m. at something I shipped - and yep - same message (Regional Weather Delay)

I think if your package passes through any region that has any type of extreme weather notification it gets it automatically assigned.

I have a few that have this red note. And I’m not sure what exact qualifies as a regional weather delay.

My guess is it’s so nice out after being horribly cold the past
Few weeks employees are taking time off to enjoy it.

Or maybe so many fell on ice and claimed injury/short term disability that it’s effecting their efficiency.

It all tied back to weather!

DMV here is now pretty efficient. You have to setup appointments and they don’t mess around. You don’t sit around and wait like you use to. You can walk in without an appointment but they warn you, you might sit there all day and never get in.

I kid you not. I literally just walked out when the mail man was there. My mailbox is still somewhat covered in ice. I grabbed the packages and handed them over. I asked if he could scan them. He looked at a note on his dash board (probably the note from the post master to scan my packages) and said yes. I waited. He was annoyed. Pulled out the scanner and literally pretended to scan them. No noise. No light. I said are you kidding me? And said I would call the post master again tomorrow.

That is unbelievable. DO YOUR DAMN JOB!!! It’s like an inconvenience to do what they are supposed to do.
