F-you usps

I stopped using it. I have sent some packages FedEx and they have gotten across country in half the time of USPS. Wondering if Amazon should take over mail delivery?

I’d be curious how UPS and fedex are successful (at least I don’t hear about cash issues and debt from them). What are they doing that USPS is not, or vice versa.

Lettermail. Canada Post will likely go out of business here because they are required by charter to provide lettermail to anyone in Canada. Lettermail postage is the same to send across the street as it is for 4600km away. Parcels they can charge based on location, but not for lettermail. There has been some rumblings to get rid of lettermail all together here to save the post office.

What will people do if they can’t write a letter…?

I’ve posted it here before, USPS was ruined back in the mid 2000s by Congress… go read up on the history, it was all downhill from there because they got fscked hard!

It’s funny how a service every single American uses somehow ā€œdoesn’t have enough moneyā€ when an unlimited budget is available for other things.

There was some talks years ago about Amazon buying either Fedex or Ups.

I mentioned this one in the eBay issues thread too. But this deserves a spot here too.

It is on the slow boat to Baltimore

New York to Florida (passing me) to Georgia back up to New Jersey (passing me again)?

I’ve been noticing another USPS trend unrelated to these crazy, ridiculous shipping trails.
And that is, I literally don’t get any mail sometimes during the week. And I’m quite sure there is mail to have been delivered because the next day delivery is significantly more mail.

I can’t remember in 50+ years ever having mail not come Monday - Saturday. And now it ā€œjust happensā€.
Sigh

What’s your normal distribution center? Mine is in another state…so someone a few towns over can mail me something and it takes a few days to leave the state and come back…

Not that this is what’s happening to you…but curious if it’s New Jersey for you. I’d think yours would be closer to Baltimore.

Mail has been super slow after the Christmas rush. Priority packages are taking longer then ground in some cases. I have a priority package that says it has been in transit for two weeks now which I think is lost.

Sounds like the fiasco about 4 or 5 years ago. I had media mail packages arrving in 2-3 days but Priority packages were taking almost 2 weeks. Different package types impacted differently. Paying more doesn’t always mean faster delivery. I guess I think of it like, if all the elephants in the room are trying to squeeze out the double doors and a few are using the single door, the few make it out much faster.

And the mice make it out no problem as well…as long as they don’t get stepped on.

Wait, who are the mice in this metaphor?

Media mail…

Well, in my metaphor, the few elephant using the single door were Media Mail or not Priority mail…

Didn’t make much sense to me since everything leaves the building through the same door.

I like mouse vs elephant better.

Elephants = Comics
Double Doors = Priority Mail
Single Door = Not Priority Mail

Makes perfect sense…

Elephant gate

If you have to break it down like that, then it’s too complicated.
