Fcbd 2023

dont forget
shamans tears
tribe
and
creed

Finally found 6 copies of the Spiderman 2 Gamerverse. Grabbed it out the FCBD box today.
Also spotted a Animal Castle 1:10 virgin variant for 5 bucks. Bought the Knight Terrors Foil for $8. Not bad of a FCBD weekend.

  1. Book and the Bruise Crew - When we talk rare books, this is it. No copies graded, none. First to market stands to make a killing on this book. I would send in a 9.8 copy. Ding one a little and send in a 9.6. And see going down the line. Release my lowest grade copy first to drive up heat, first to market, and then wow them when I drop the 9.8 on eBay causing a feeding frenzy, one and only 9.8 copy. Bam, sick, dope, MONEY!
  2. Warriors of the Plasm #1 - A book no one born after 1992 has heard of, but this has a super low CGC census population, once word gets out there are only 26 9.8 copies and only 57 total graded copies, this is sure to skyrocket. Currently 0 copies on eBay, these don’t show up as die hard collectors keep a tight grasp on this book. (CGC facts are true by the way)
  3. Chromium Man #1 - This one has all the hype. Big time players get ready to make a move. Not only is this book Adam Pollina’s first work, he would later gain fame for his Apocalypse Mini Series from Marvel that blew up with that X-Men movie, but this has more going on for it. Each one is individually serial numbered making each one a 1 of 1. How dope is that? No matter what grade yours comes back it will be the only one with that individual serial number. Mega collectible here. Not only all those reasons but there is not one copy on the census making this not only a win-win but a win-win-win-win.
  4. Shamen’s Tears #1 - Another one with it all, so many of these comics languished in 50 cent bins and were destroyed, black covers are notoriously hard to find in 9.8 condition. Media options are all the rage, movies are a thing of the past, Disney plus is floundering, so people are looking for other places to get their Comic Book media fix, and this one is a trail blazer, Podcasts! That is right, Audible Studios is looking for comics to turn into podcasts and Shaman’s Tears is high on the list. Pocket Universe Productions optioned the original series for a full-cast fiction podcast. Its the internet, that always equals money.
  5. Tribe #1 - No one screams Hollywood star power than Mario Van Peebles. Let that soak in for a minute while you dig out copies. The MVP himself is tied to direct both a live action and an animated series based on Tribe. Can you say “Double Whammy”? Another foil enhanced black cover that will be hard to find in 9.8 condition as it also languished in the 50 cent bins for so long. Tie in the fact the creators actually released a line of clothes based on locations and characters in the story, and now you have both a comic collectible, and something for the drip fans. Triple Whammy.
  6. Creed #1 - This is an easy one. Creed, the movie, is getting it’s own comic adaptation. Now is time to list your copies, or find to list, the original Creed by Trent Kaniuga. I mean the name alone exhumes power. You have the movie by the name, the band by that name, the name is just dripping with power. Not to mention nothing is hotter in the world of tweens to teens than Fortnite, and the creator of Creed is directly tied with designs in the game (no joking). Not to mention the cycle of things, everything cool comes back in style, and this 90’s comic book is set to have a resurgence

(ok that last one was really hard to write. But all others contain true facts. and still, for the lurkers, this is all in fun and not to be taken seriously)

Extraordinarily well done!
You should try your hand in the comic business :stuck_out_tongue:

All the facts are real by the way, just using it in an overly sensational way. I believe this leaves us four books short of a top ten of junk.

That’s the part loved! The truthfulness of it all!
That’s the game that other sites play - yea they’re being “truthful” but what they don’t say is they’re sensationalizing the content

Darkchlyde 1/2! It’s a Wizard edition, so obviously super rare and sought after.

If people want FCBD to serve it’s purpose, when you go pick up your free books, spend some time actually in the store and buy some other merchandise to support said shop giving out free comic books. The people who show up, gobble up some free stuff and leave should just stay home!

Brought the grand daughters to FCBD this year. Typically I can’t as I usually troop the varied events in costume with the 501st.

Grand daughter wanted anything “but” free comics (although she took some of those also). I think I spent more on the stuff she ran around asking for then I normally do myself.

Was really fun watching her excitement.

She loves Spiderman and the Hulk! Spent most of the overnight visit watching Spidey shows. It beats the hell out of Cocomelon and Paw Patrol at any rate.

I mean if they want FCBD to be for people who aren’t usually into comics (which I assume is what they want, since we comic book collector folk already spend our money) then the publishers themselves shouldn’t be making comics with first appearances or other collectability factors.

The writers are just writing stories and the publishers are just marketing their products to boost revenue. The consumers are the ones who make them collectible and seek out firsts, etc. I wouldn’t lay any blame on the publishers just trying to sell their products.

I was just playing devil’s advocate really. I don’t believe the blame is on the publishers per se’… more just pointing out that if the people complaining want change it isn’t going to happen from the collectors. I know I won’t just stay home and not grab a first appearance money maker because someone says to leave it for the kids (I also won’t go grabbing stacks of them either)

Well, I guess for those who are at the shop every week giving them money, buying comics, got pre-orders, etc, going in to grab your free comics is gonna be okay.

I don’t partake in FCBD anymore. It’s not worth my time.

I got lucky that my local library participated so I was able to grab some stuff from there without having to wade thru throngs of people. Otherwise it’s not usually worth my time or effort either.

I was a bit surprised to see my FCBD sale TFAW order has already shipped. In the past, that would sit for a week or two.

My 5/5/23 slab order, label has been generated, showing as “shipped” but when I check its status only shows the label had been generated
