Gemini Mailers

Okay, edited.

Oh, I meant that sarcastically… but yeah, some might take it to DM/PM if they want to reveal more details about their own life…

I’m in somewhat desperate need of more mailers. I hear that Matt’s ships quickly, which is great. But, does Gemini ship reasonably fast, too?

For me, Gemini will be about 73 cents per shipped at 100, and Matt’s is about 83 per.

Any other good options out there?

Gemini Mailers always show up 3 days after ordering for me, always faster than I think will happen. But that was before the craptastic holiday shipping going on now.

I ordered 150 comic book mailers and 50 dividers from Gemini on January 2 around 8pm.
Used discount code CERTIFIED10 for 10% off purchase.
Got a tracking number today saying order has shipped and would be delivered on January 5 by end of day thru FedEx.

This was the nudge I needed to to make the call. Thanks!

Any issues with reusing geminis received from orders?

I save all my gemini and cardboard mailers to use when selling.

I always reuse, unless a mailer gets mangled on the way to me. You can tell if they’ve lost their structural integrity. And, that’s my situation. I’ve always had a stack of these saved, but my selling has outpaced my purchases. I surely don’t need 100 of these, but $68 shipped felt reasonable to me.

I actually prefer TFAW’s version of the gemini. It’s thicker cardboard and bigger overall. Feels like it provides more protection, but the key is always the internal protection.

I love reusing any mailers or boxes that are in good enough condition to use again. Reduce, reuse, recycle!

I’ve cut up amazon boxes to reuse for packing. All boxes get a second life at my household.

I have stacks of pre-used gemini mailers. depending on the price of the book, I will reuse them. More expensive books deserve a nice clean new one.

I got free mailers on https://boxgiver.com/

Interesting site. I’ll explore it more and see what I can find!

are there any new companies out there ?

what’s wrong with Geminis?

nothing but something the thin cardboard scares me
got to order some and just looking for other options

I’ve been using 2 pieces of 56pt boards that you can buy at comic supply manufacturer’s websites and a 9x12 bubble mailer that you can buy in bulk for cheap.

These are so cheap and the benefit is they fit so snug that I don’t think anything protects the comics better. The 56pt boards are so nice and thick that they can’t bend. I have mailed out hundreds of books this way even Ultimate Spiderman 1s that I was selling for $100. Have had no complaints and just positive feedbacks.

The advantage besides the cost for me is that it just takes a few seconds to package it together. Just use painters tape along the sides to the 2 boards and then slip them into the bubble mailer, saves a lot of time . With Geminis you have to fold them and then tape them down. It actually takes longer for me to use a gemini. Also I’ve heard stories from some sellers that their books get damaged when they sent them in the mail with a gemini, never had it happen to me but I guess it does happen.

The site that I use to buy my 56pt boards is 56pt Backer Boards | ComicProLine 56pt Boards – Comic Pro Line
Not affiliated with the site, just what I use to buy my supplies. Stay away from their mylars! Free shipping to Canada and US if you spend over a certain amount and they usually have a lot of sales.

For cheaper books I just use the smaller golden size 56pt board, comes out to 24 cents USD for a board and a smaller size bubble mailer 8x11. For more expensive books like Ultimate Spiderman 1 I use the magazine size 8x11 56 point board as it’s a little bigger that gives it extra room for protection for the corners for impact crunches but again it’s so thick and sturdy that it’s impossible to damage your comics.

I haven’t found any way to protect my comics better and to package it faster using this method.

I’ve been doing similar but I just don’t throw cardboard boxes or any of the cardboard from books I buy. I cut down boxes regularly, I’m assuming you could get some from a local store that is just recycling them but I haven’t had to do it yet. I get bubble mailers from a local dollar store that sells them 2 for $1.50. Painters tape to secure to the thick cardboard and its snug into a 8.5 x 11 bubble mailer. If its a few books I generally throw a couple extra 24pt backer boards between the books and use a 9.5 x 12 bubble mailer (also 2 for $1.50 from the same dollar store). Thats been working for me and its pretty cheap.

Matt’s Baseball Supplies are cheaper than Gemini and thicker. They are fantastic.
