Also the fact that BTILC was included in Loot Crate

I remember Loot Crate and all the other subscription boxes like it. What happened to all those?

Grim is pretty good, but I dont get the hype.

The hype is Bleeding Cool is calling it the next SIKTC. They may be invested heavily in it.

I think the hype is fairly legit. Interesting characters. A concept that could play well as a movie (or more likely a TV show.) A massive world that could go in a ton of directions. Boom! doing everything they can to build excitement and sell the hell out of it is just what they do for a business. They’d be stupid to not do that. Bleeding Cool hyping it up seems a little odd to me. That article reads like a press release from Boom. Maybe it is, and they were just lazy and simply copied the press release.

Calling it the next SIKTC seems dumb, as the two feel like apples and oranges. It’s no where near SIKTC. I’m not sure if the cool/edgy factor is quite there with Grim like it is with SIKTC.

And, it’s just wild that selling 100,000 is this monumental number. Having lived through the early 90s comic world has forever skewed my perspective on that number.

Yeah the comparison is silly cause those really early sikc were way more rare and underordered whereas grim everyone and their mother jumped and ordered like 20 copies each

Frankly its not anywhere near as good as the early issues of SIKTC. And the print runs are 4x higher.

Anytime you all start pushing a Boom series I run the other direction.

BOOM is really hit or miss with spec, for sure.

I am not pushing them, but I have made money off them.

Agreed, I’ve done quite well with SIKTC and now Grim. Not going to hate on Boom.

Im a collector/reader more than a speccer. I really like SIKTC, I think Grim is just ok. Boom is a good indie company, but I dont buy into the hype that they and places like Bleeding Cool try to build up.

I actually like them using the Canto model and just bringing out series of story arcs. I think sometimes these indie series that start as a mini and get picked up as a series really falter because they weren’t planned out farther.
