I Like What I'm Reading (not spec'ing, but like actually reading)!

I reread Kingdom Come again. Unreal how good that story is. Alex Ross was on point with his art the whole way through. Amazing!

Stray Dogs 4 was sooo good. There was something else I read today that I enjoyed most of all, We Only Find Them When They Are Dead #6. So damn good.

I’ve been reading Orphan and the Five Beasts. First 2 issues pretty decent. Story is interesting and artwork reminds me of the Groo series.

Oooh, just finished the final volume of Invisible Kingdom (third act went straight to trade and released last week). The ending was immensely satisfying and both cleaned up the major storyline but didn’t tie everything up, so that you’re left to imagine the future. The art and story for this whole series are truly special.

I need to finish reading this one too. I bought the first 4 or 5 issues but then stopped, was gonna wait for trades.

God damn this didn’t age well. King in Black 5 pissed me off so much, just not the ending I wanted at all. Venom Beyond was really cool though.

I actually came to this thread because I’m looking for a good Marvel recommendation. As you know or can tell I am mainly a DC guy and DC Infinite Frontier titles from Action Comics to Teen Titans has been good to great for me so far.

At Marvel I usually grab most of Cates’ stuff as I tend to gravitate toward the Cosmic side of things at Marvel. I’m starting to read GotG at issue 13.

At Marvel I’m a sucker for Thanos, Cosmic Ghost Rider (Omnibus is on order for my B-Day). Cap I usually have a soft spot for… been thinking of diving into the Infinity Gauntlet story but not sure that is a great jumping on spot.

The Daredevil series is very under-rated.

Doctor Doom #10

I can never stress reading that book enough…

I may have to pick up the trades because a lot of folks say it is the best book Marvel has going right now. DD isn’t a character I’m mega familiar with but I’m sure I won’t be totally lost.

I’ll have to check this one out. Just the single issue?

If your going to do Infinity Gauntlet you need to read Thanos Quest. It shows how he acquired all the gems/stones.

Thor God of Thunder first two story arcs are a must from Jason Aaron. Probably the best Marvel Story in the past 3 decades hands down. God Butcher and God Bomb stories. Read it, love it… cherish it and become a super Thor Fan afterwards!

Also read Wonder Girl #1 and Robin #2 today. Damian is… a massive dick. I like the story premise, but I’m not sure how much I’m in for this series, because I kind of don’t like him in the same way I didn’t like John Walker in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. It would be an upgrade to kill him off and rename the book Ravager. Wonder Girl, on the other hand, seems like it’s going to be great.

If also recommend the Inhuman series by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee it won the Eisner that year, if that makes a difference. Daredevil by Smith, Mack, Bendis along with Frank Miller’s run all all excellent. Alias by Bendis was Excellent. I have to say one of my favorite underrated mini series was 1985 By Millar. If it doesn’t bring you back to your childhood Idk what would.

There are so many I’m forgetting. Grant Morrison’s run on New X-Men was in my opinion better than Aaron’s Thor God of Thunder.

Uncanny X-force by remender was one of my favorites from marvel.

Also the Ennis Punsiher stuff right into the Jason Aaron punisher Max stuff is awesome.

And Brubaker Captain America

If you are looking for a good Spider-man run per se, I highly recommend Scarlet Spider 2012 series. Best story on Kane that I have read. And that Stegman art is top notch. That’s the series that got me into his artwork.

Have the series in a long box! This is what got me into Cap. Thanks for the other suggestions!

That’s kind of his appeal, imo. However we all have our individual flavors that we like. Damian was raised by the League of Assassins and Batman more or less had to House train him. So is kind of like a junkyard guard dog on a leash.

Agree about Wonder Girl. She was the high point of Future State for me and I’m glad that Joelle Jones is still writing and drawing the book.

Also, I’m not overly in love with Bendis but so far I am enjoying his Justice League and look forward to Checkmate.
