Agree with your assessment on Grim #2. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it. The story is an interesting premise, but need to see where this goes after more issues. I like the main character, as she is interesting and am curious on her background.
Oh nooooo… But Comic Tom said GRIM was the next SIKTC. I just put a 2nd Mortgage on the House cause Comic Tom said so… I joke, I kid… I went back and reread Old Man Hawkeye mini this Weekend. This series is an emotional Rollercoaster ride, I laughed, I cried, I pooped my pants. ( Not again ! )
Great interior art by Marco Checcetto really keeps you engaged and the action is fast paced with a Hell of a lot of great twist’s & turns. Highly recommend giving this a read. It’s a lot of Fun !
Just read the last issue of Nocterra (issue 11 dropped today). Great story, excellent art. One of the better reads over the past year, IMO. Snyder tweeted that some big things are in store for the third arc, so that means there’s more to come from this title. Hopefully the hiatus isn’t too long. Looking forward to issue 12!
I’m with you. Nocterra is a really good read.
Yes! This series is great. Best new title from 2021 IMO.
Nocterra is pretty solid. Seven Sons #1 was pretty good. I like Blood Stained Teeth as well. DC has been pretty much crap lately. I have liked Knights of X and Immortal X-Men from Marvel.
I read Batman 125. It is a great start to Zdarksy and Jiménez’s new run. I’ll get a review up on my own blog tomorrow, probably. Just know for now that it was a good time.
Flashpoint Beyond is simply amazing so far. Pretty much can’t go wrong when Johns is involved.
Anybody read the 1st issue of Absolution? I went into it with low expectations, and came out thinking ‘yeah… I could see someone doing something with this comic’, aka a tv show. It reminds me of a Blade Runner/Johnny Mnemonic/Tom Clancy-ish futuristic storyline. I like the social media live streaming interwoven into the story. Will continue to read.
Just read Action Comics Annual 2022, Great Supes story with the origin of the new Mongul. A thought-provoking read, examining the effects of parenting and environment in the formation of character. Really enjoyed it (somewhat unexpectedly as many annuals are a bit naff)
I have been rereading some of the “classic” DC stories of late. Just finished Flashpoint, which holds up really well. On to Crisis On Infinite Earths next!
After you read Crisis on Infinite Earths you should dive into Dark Crisis as it is only 3 issues in and very good thus far.
Strangely enough, I’ve just reread The Judas Contract from the classic New Teen Titans run. Just as good as I remembered it. My goodness, Perez was a great artist. I’m re-looking at all of his stuff with the kind of wonder I had as a kid back in the 80s. Wolfman has to take a bow for the way he wrote the character of Terra in that story…pure hatred in her veins!
I have the first arc of the Perez/Wolfman run that I picked up recently. I read Judas Contract again within the last year. Still an amazing story. The whole run was great.
I’ve never read Dark Crisis, but it is on my list to get now!
I finally got around to reading Eight Billion Genies. I’m up to issue 3 and have to say it’s brilliant! It’s completely absurd and it’s turning into a survival tale. About a group of people stuck inside a bar as the world around them is ending. Think of it as an absurd Walking Dead.
If you like that kind of stuff you’ll love this. I’m getting the rest of the series from my shop. Pretty excited to see where this goes. I actually think this has a shot to be a smash hit on Amazon. It’s different enough with its ridiculousness and engaging enough to hook in viewers. Super fun read.
The first issue of Sword of Azrael (2022) hit really hard, I enjoyed it a lot.
I can see it being a series. You can tell stories from a lot of different points of view. Reminds me of Year Zero from AWA.
Just read the first trade for Killadelphia. Really good story and great art. Gotta track down vol. 2 now. This has HBO series written all over it.
Yes, this story is freaking awesome and it’s going to get made. The content is endless.
