Had a good couple days. Another haul from the private warehouse pick and a bunch of IDW Transformers comics from a local toy show. Transformer comics were $2 each including the RIs.
Those boxes… man
Im jealous
I do well with IDW variants.
Attended a convention this weekend that is always such a good time. Because of the somewhat remote location & always being on Memorial weekend it is always just really relaxed.
It’s in Traverse City, MI which is just a beautiful location.
Anyway, Bart Sears was there and I enjoyed chatting with him. The Con is well attended, but that doesn’t really equate to big comic fans. Makes it nice because there are no lines and you really can just visit with creators.
I love Sears art & fondly recall his ongoing articles in Wizard back in the day.
I’ve mentioned how much I love the Image Ghost Machine books & I was surprised when Sears did a Junkyard Joe alternate cover for Issue #5 (not all that easy to find either).
He was surprised when that was my choice for a sketch (pleasantly). Said it was great to do something unique and that he had fun with it.
I couldn’t be happier with this one!
Tom Waltz (writer of The Last Ronin) was also there as well as Eric Powell (creator of the Goon).
My grandson is named Leo so I’ve been stocking up on Turtle stuff for him lol.
I traded Riri CGC 9.8 books IM #7 & #9 for the Green Lantern & Swamp thing books. Also sold off a Vengeance #1 9.8. Zero regrets…and they were duplicates anyway.
The rest pictured (besides the Blade books I brought for Mr. Sears to sign) were either found in $1 or $2 boxes.
Sounds like a fun show!
I believe that I traversed Traverse city once on my way to Mackinac Island.
Was truly quite nice from my re-collection.
Great books there and even better sketch from Sears!
That Dreamwalker is hard to find.
Jim (Bronzeville) just posted that he DID go to Stormville.
He woke up late though so I guess was alot more limited in pickings at that one particular booth & probably why I missed him.
He did mention me “indirectly” in the video at the end as the guy who got Ms. Marvel 16
I bought a mostly blind box of books for $80. Probably 125 books. I spotted the Kate Bishop first app and figure it was worth it. Nothing amazing, but I can flip most of the random stuff to make most back.
A bunch of books were bought from Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash.
I ended up with 145 books in the diaper box buy. So, about $.56 per. I’m keeping 40, and will move the rest to my bulk buyer.
The Young Avengers 1-9 and some of the spidey books were the winners. Some fun 25 and 40 centers in good condition that I’ll keep, too.
I think the key to these rando Marketplace buys are keep the few good ones and flip the junk as quickly as possible.
Always a good idea.
