Went to this “warehouse sale” today. Apparently they open this up one or two Saturdays a month. It’s about an hours drive from me, but I’ve never been. After a long week of work, decided to check it out and get away for most of the day.
It was pretty overwhelming. They had a room with dozens of long boxes, 70% off (most books had $8 tags, so it was like $2.50 books). Then another wall of long boxes was 50% off (most of these books I would say were priced around FMV, on average). I spent about 3 hours going through everything, then realized these was an entire additional room with dozens upon dozens of long boxes stacked on each other…which were $3-$4, but the guy basically said “grab some books and I’ll give you a
Deal.” A lot were not bagged/boarded…but I think there was gems to be found.
None of the books were in any kind of order…just total chaos and randomness. I had spent so much time in the other rooms, I only gave myself about an hour to dig through what I could access…so many stacks of long boxes…and I wanted to hit another shop that used to be a honey home during the comic boom I had not visited in a while.
So anyway, here are the books I picked up.
These were about $4/each, and for the PC.
The ASMs looked to be 9.8 candidates. Can’t leave McFarlane ASMs behind in that grade for that price. I don’t think I have these, so for the
Transformers 36 (1st Sky Lynx + cover) I’ve been trying to find a 9.6 or better in a newsstand…but found this 9.8 direct candidate. The Spot cover I just like. It’s a fun cover. And I’ve been searching for the White Lantern Batman book for years…just a cool mashup.
The Superman is a Neal Adams cover. Just interesting to me how the art is super imposed on the photo background.
These were all $2 books. Geiger 4 and Junkyard Joe 1 are books I needed as I’m trying to put the whole run (1-6 of each series) before I read them. Still missing a few from each. Impact winter was a great find for a flip. And the Immortal Iron Fist is just a spec hold (in case Wu-Ao Shi ever becomes popular). New Mutants is a Middleton cover (trying to collect his run in the title on the cheap).
These three I pulled from the 50% off bin, but the seller gave me a further discount so it was more like 60% off.
Naomi #1 is the “convention” edition. I have several copies of the regular and variant in 9.8s. But have wanted this for the PC for some time. $12 is better than what I’d pay online.
Sonic 4 is a retailer 1:10…never pass up Sonic 1:10 for $8.
And the Robins #1 Speedo (Workout) variant needs no introduction here. It did draw some attention when I brought it up to the counter, lol. $6 for a decent flip.
