I like what you got! (Goodwills, Thrift Stores, Yard Sales, ETC Finds) 🔎

Yeah
garage sales are tough as people stare at you while you’re looking
and are certainly going to be nosey and ask questions if you’re rummaging through “their stuff.”

At least with shops and conventions/shows its “business” and should be expected.

I’ll take pictures of things and say I need to check with someone (me) to see if they’re interested and go back to my car to check things in private not to draw unwanted attention.

^^This is the way

@D-Rog @LanLubber

Bingo!
Drawing attention to their stuff by looking up prices at a Yard Sale has, in the past, drawn attention and concern that pricing was way way way incorrect and I’ll get: “these 10 books are $1, but this one here in your pile is $40. I mistakenly put it in the $1 box”. Or some nonsense like that. It’s happened a few times to me.

Can’t even complain as it’s not a store and threaten to never go back (or actually never go back).

They’d probably be concerned if you did show up randomly one day! “Hey, Gimmie some dinner!”

Went to an comic yard sale I saw on Facebook marketplace, one of those “lots of longboxes of comics all $1” type listings. You never quite know what to expect when you see this, is it all unbagged and no boards 90’s chaff, or 1000 copies of Brigade #8 type thing. Went anyway, despite it was an hour away.

Bought 175 book for $150 CAD. There was probably 100 long boxes and they were indeed $1 each, but the guy running it didn’t actually count the amount of comics he just eye balled it and gave you a price, hence the less than $1 per book. There wasn’t really too much that you wouldn’t expect in terms of real hidden gems but definite lots of run filler things I was collecting.

Bunch of Season 10/11 Sub cover for X-Files, all photo covers

All 5 covers from Gambit #1 (1999)? Bought them all, will try and flip as a set:

Really high grade McFarlane covers

Lots of Mora covers

Just for the covers

Just some other random stuff that looked good for $1, late run GI Joe, a couple of really high grade Toybiz variants for X-Men, the Unexpected is a real low grade copy but love this cover so couldn’t leave it.

The Red Sonja is a run filler, and a random Josh Middleton variant, the Magic covers I grab when high grade and cheap.

These are the real oddballs I found, can’t even find information on the Thoughtless book, AI told me the signature is Pulido but I don’t believe it. I thought the Warlands might just be random friends signing it but bought it anyway, turns out it is the creative team for Dreamwave (not that is worth anything really). The Blood Queen book is the weirdest of all, it is clearly a blank that someone did original art on but it is not signed on any page and they clearly have some talent. No idea, bought it anyway.

Transformers, there were lots more but I don’t know enough about Transformer books, read about More than Meets the Eye on here so there you go, thought the other ones were a full set turns out there is a #4

Love finding random Jusko painted covers for PC, easy buy at $1

Additions to my quest to own every Wolverine NSV, the #185 is in horrible, horrible shape, but I don’t have it so in it goes.

Apparently I’m collecting the run of Ascension now, love Finch.

Always find Turners, the Fathom ones I already have but these were such high grade I had to take them for $1, even the black covers are tick free.

Some pre-2010 Campbell covers I don’t have:

Finally some graphic novels also $1:

All in all, it was a great time spending 5 or so hours going through 20,000 comics. Considering the amount of books that left that driveway, seems like everyone was walking away with a 100 or more, I wonder what I didn’t even see.

I collect 90’s bad girl books. So I love run filler yard sales. Some great books.

Great X-Files Photo Covers!
Alot of folks (like me
lol) seek out high grade Photo covers for Celeb signings.
Often tough to find in high grade for some reason

Those sales are the best.

I have collected the first series of x-files but very few of the newer series
